 Folks I just won a mold on Ebay and I was wondering if this used to be a common occurrence from Lyman/Ideal.

Its a Double cavity mold. One cavity cut for the 169gr Gaschecked 311413 and the other for the 130gr plain base 311410.

I bid on it for the opportunity to get the 311410 for testing purposes and the other cavity is a plus as that is one of my current favorite molds in a Single cavity.

This way I can cast both at the same time which keeps my stock of 311413s up while I develop a large pile of the 130gr plinkers for use in my boy's rifles.

Current plans are a primary use of the 130gr 311410 will be in a SKS and in a 308 Winchester Mauser. The 311413s will continue to feed all the other 30cal and fat 30 cal rifles in my safe.

Again, just curious if Ideal mixed mold cherries often for customers.

I wouldn't say that they did it "often", but you do see mixed moulds ocassionally.

I was just given one of those mixed 311*** molds and another two mixed cavities were a 7mm and 32/20 one with gas check and one without together with 7 various sizer dies.
Sometime doing a favour for free for a friend has substancial rewards:-D :-D

I fired it up and cast a few this week. the 130gr is the outside cavity and the 169 the inner cavity. the 130 started casting well sooner due to the heat up. I haven't fired them yet but I intend to soon. The filled out nice once the mold was up to temperature.
