View Full Version : Catshooters .45 283 Keith Group Buy Starts Here.

This is a close copy of the RCBS .45 275, with our additions of the Keith criteria. This is the .452424 stretched out to fit what Keith wanted but couldn't get in the short cylinders of the 1930's. Should weigh in the neiborhood of 283 grains, depending. Should drop at about .455, depending. 45 2.1 will post a picture shortly for y'all do drool on.

Cost is $60 for a six gang Lee custom mould. This includes a mould for our on board designer, without whom this would not have been the sucessful run of moulds that it has been. I ship USPS Priority, but with no insurence. Out of country? PM me for how to pay.

Now I am running more than one buy, so it's very important you tell me what buy you want in on and and your screen name.

PM me for my address. I take checks or money orders. I'll hold the buy open for a month, (unless we need more time) then issue last call, then close it. After I mail the moulds, I'll wait a month and then offer up any extras for sale, if any. I can't control the USPS, so if it doesn't arrive there's not alot I can do. Their insurence system just isn't worth messing with, but if someone wants it, let me know and I'll let you know how much.

Should be fun, and a hell of a mould.

its great to have some real kieths being done by you guys. Im not into the 5 lube grove bullets or round flats or tumble lube design or giant metplats. I want a bullet that is accurate simple and flys good not only at 25 yards but at 500 yards and to me that spells kieths and lfns others need not apply!! No need to fix what isnt broke!

I had been on the fence for so long about another heavy .45 group buy.
It wasn't really my cupa but it was a heavy .45.

But THIS is the boolit I really want.
I'll for sure be getting one of these!

bubba,

Usually takes about three months, start to mould. However, the .44 & .45 230 are closer to four plus months. It ain't fast, for sure.

Yea, I don't think we'll have much trouble getting to 25. I'll keep this one open for about a month or so to let people get in.

Hey I see that this will drop a 455 bullet, I'll be shooting in a new Rugar blackhawk and I believe its 452. If I run it through a lee 452 sizer will that be to much for the sizer or distort the bullet to much? Or can I just shoot it as is?

BluesBear
05-11-2007, 10:35 PM
That depends on your cylinder throats. You should size for the throat not the bore.
However Ruger Blackhawk .45s are nortorious for having undersize throats.

If your's does too then accuracy is almost impossible until you fix it.

Unless you have 2 like MINE..one runs .455-.456 and the other runs .453-.455, so I dont NEED to size some of that stuff if it runs big....Just has to chamber.

If someone wants to part with one of their two ordered or if there is an extra, please keep me in mind.

Don't have a .45 yet, but I figure with a few molds, dies, and holsters, the gun can't be far behind. :Fire: :-D

Damm, i'm kinda late here too, but i'd like to have one if there is one spare.

Well Blammer, as you know making molds isn't as easy as it appears. And it would really be fun to try and cut six identical cavities on a non-CNC lathe. It would be like shooting tin cans over your shoulder at 200 yards while blindfolded in the dark. Guess I just ain't that good!

lol

I'd just do a single cavity!

specifically a .625 dia for my 20 ga slug gun....

I think this thread has the most views I've ever seen.

I have to sympathize with CAT and I am even in for two of these myself!

The previous GB I honchoed took over six months to receive when they originally quoted four. The most recent I sent in to LEE was quoted at six to seven months and was at that time told not to call about its progress ! I know I will not see it until next year.

We all need to realize that calling LEE about a GB does not produce any useful information and simply raises one's blood pressure 20 points ! :)

Asking the honcho about the "progress" is very frustrating as well since that honcho cannot get any information from LEE.

Any of us that enters into a Group Buy must realize that patience is required if you do so!

I am not a patient man so my cardiologist has insisted that I no longer deal with LEE as a honcho ! I will try NEI nest time!

This thread sometimes slips out of sight--but the mold is definitely NOT out of mind! I haven't seen any GB arrivals for awhile, what was the most recent one?
