Finally, I think I've found a winning combo for my 45 ACP loads.

In the past I've been casting my bullets from straight WW's, but Sat. I went back to adding about 3 or 4 ozs. of 50/50 solder to my large Lee pot. My two Lee 200 SWC mold bullets come out from one mold at .4525 to .453 and the other at .453 to .454.
In the past I've been using Rooster jacket, but this time I used a very light coating of LLA. They were resized with the Lee die and relubed with light LLA.
Loaded to an OAL of 1.25 to 1.255 with 4.1 BE and 30 rds later, absolutely NO LEADING in the barrel of my Para GI Expert. Also NO FAIL TO FEED which had been a problem with some Lee 200 RNFP I was trying to shoot!!!

The small addition of the 50/50 solder apparently made the bullets fill out perfectly, except for two rejects which were my fault

Glad you were able to find the winning combination.

I have often wondered if Rooster Jacket would work for low velocity loads. I spoke extensively with the tech at Rooster Labs and was told this is the lube that many of the bullet manufacturers use on their 22 rimfire bullets.
This was interesting since recently I had a rifle that I have owned for 40 years lead the bore. It is a Rem LH 581.

I have had good luck with Rooster Jacket in target loads in both the .45ACP and .38 spl. I have also had very good results with the Lee 158 TLSWC in both rifles (1100 fps) and pistols (900fps) with excellent accuracy. That said unless I can find out what kind of floor wax it is I won't get any more due to cost. "Recluse" lube (45-45-10) works as well at low velocity and better at high velocity and is more cost friendly.

I have been running the lee 200grn swc w/ Felix lube at 1.235 over 4.4 grns BE for a while now and have had no noticable leading. Shoots great, accurate and makes major PF. I am using a Para GI expert ESP. I haven't been adding tin to my COWW. I tried the TL bullet from lee but did not like the smell and added smoke of the LLA.

Good on you Gene! I think it's a hoot when you find some little seemingly tiny change that makes things work. But now, don't you wonder which one it was that made the difference or if it was both together? I'd have to know, to try the other lube and see. My money is on fill out, but sometimes it takes the combo to win.

It's strange because for the last couple of years I've been using RJ for my 06 and Nagant ( 1000 to 1200) and NO Leading, but apparently my revolvers and pistol don't like the RJ.

The bullets that I shot today were the ones from the mold that were .4525 to .453. Tomorrow I'm going to resize the ones from the .453 to .454 mold --the results should be the same!!!

I have some Valiant 200 RNFP's that shoot in my pistol, NO Leading, but the Valiant 200 LSWC ( all with the same load 4.1 BE ) LEAD !!! Both are .452. Go figure !!!

I do honestly think the extra 3 to 4 ozs of 50/50 solder helped the bullets be more uniform...........

I was seriously thinking about sending the molds back to Lee to get them to convert the molds to a flat base, but now I'm not going to fix it if it isn't broke .....

I do love shootin that ole slabside and now I can do it at L/T 4 cents a rd...
