I have an RCBS 30-180-SP mold for boolits that I use in various bolt guns in calibers like 30-40 Krag, 308 Winchester, 7.5 Swiss, 7.5 MAS and etc. The boolits have a small flat point on them, and I was wondering if they would work safely in a Winchester Model 94AE lever gun of .307 WIN caliber? I have always shot J bullets through it for deer hunting and never gave it much thought as a cast boolit shooter so I never bought an appropriate boolit mold for it. And the same goes for my wife's Winchester Model 94AE lever gun in .356 WIN. She uses it strictly for deer hunting and it is equiped with a scope for longer range shooting. So I have only loaded J bullets in it also. What boolit mold would be good for it? Although all of these long lead boolits may not load out of the tube magazine properly?

I REALLY like that boolit. It has won/placed in many mil bolt matches for me in 1903A3. Also does extremely well in a 700 VS in .308.

I would be more apt to go with the 30-180-FP, 31141, or the Lee FP, just to be sure though, in a lever gun. The flat on the 30-180-SP is kinda small -- wouldn't want to court disaster.

i'd look at the rcbs 358-200 for the 356 it's used a ton in the 358 win and the 35 rem.
the rcbs 30-150-fn is super reliable in my 30-30's and is very accurate in many of my other 30 cal rifles.
you could go to the 30-180 fp rcbs also [maybe] in those longer necked cases of the 307.
but i'm sure the 150 will feed and be good for deer hunting.

I use the 30-150-SP in my 30-30's all the time with no problems.
Very accurate.
Even a small flat nose is better than a round nose and they are used all the time.
If your worried about it, flatten it just a little more with a different top punch.
