I was gonna try and load some .357s using a Lyman 358311 boolit and some H110. Lyman has a published load that starts at 13.0gr of H110 and maxes out at 18.3gr H110 for the boolit. They also state that the OAL length is 1.590.

Question 1: Who has loaded this recipe and where did you crimp the boolit? Over the 1st driving band or did you trim brass and crimp in the crimping groove?
If I leave the trim length standard it makes the round OAL of 1.650" which come flush with the end of my cylinder. Lyman says the OAL should be 1.590" There's no way I can get that short unless I trim brass to 1.225" or crimp over the 1st driving band. Which is a better practice?

Question 2: This seems like A LOT of H110 powder and its a published Lyman load. What does your Lyman books say?

I would work up to 18.3 h110. Most of the max loads run around 16.5 with that weight boolit. I don't put much stock in OAL as .060 either way is not going to cause pressure spikes. Since you are seating it out a little further it should lower the pressure slightly. At 16.6 of h110 that boolit better fit perfectly and the lube/alloy has to be spot on to reach 1600+fps without turning your barrel into a sewer pipe.
