I will buy some more 45 Long Colt brass shortly.

Is there a noticeable difference in number of reloads from one brand to another.

I tried to search but no luck. I'm sure this has been gone over before. Just direct me to a thread.

I shoot a lot of 45C have seen no difference in the number of reloads per piece of brass but then I don't count, I shoot them until they split then they go to the scrapper.

I load them on a dillon 450B the only problem I have found is some off brand brass(CBC, PMC,
magtec and a few others) have smaller dia rims and want to get pushed out of the shell plate
when installing primers these go to the scrapper too.

Starline, Magtech, Federal and Hornady are all good. Starline is probably the best. I think they also make the Magtech. Federal is quite good also. Hornady has been good so far.

Win, CBC, and Rem = junk.

I know that it lasts a lot longer in a Blackhawk if you do not full length size it. Chamber diameters are all over SAAMI specs and if you are just using one gun it lasts longer to size the top 1/3-1/2 only.

I've had great luck with Federal and most of my splits have been with Winchester or Remington. I need to try the Starline as I've heard good things.

I am with subsonic. Starline and Hornady get my vote.

Avoid CBC and Win like the plague. I have had CBC split in 2 reloads.

There all about the same as far as longevity goes. Sometimes you get a bad lot of brass regardless who the manufacturer is.

Starline for my heavy loads.
Winchester and Remington for everything else.

If you look at the SAAMI chamber drawings for the .45 Colt (dating from the early 1870's), it's not a straight walled case but a mild taper. A carbide sizing die makes it a straight wall, hence the extreme working of the brass.

CBC=Magtech

You are correct. I'm not sure what brand I was thinkin of when I typed Magtech.

Starline makes one of the other brands. I have had the worst luck of all with S&B brass.

I agree with you there starmac, S&B brass is pretty bad but the worst for me is PRVI!
