Hi All,
Just getting into casting. My 15 yr old son fell in love with a.35 Rem Marlin 336 an elderly friend had for sale, and since I'd always wanted a .35, easily convinced me to buy it.
We've been loading some 158 gr swc's we had with good results, but now the bug has bit us, and we can't afford to feed our addictions.
I'm telling myself that casting our own will help defray some of the expense of shooting as much as we do, but I think we all know where this is going to lead... There's always another mold or caliber to try!

This forum has been a wonderful resource already, and I'd like to thank all of you for the mass of information available here.

Welcome aboard. There isn't a day that goes by that I do not pickup something here that I did not know.

Welcome,I couldnt think of a better way to spend time with my boy than loading up some ammo and shooting it.

Welcome...OH Yeah the bug bit you, now you have the sickness, there is no cure. You can shoot a whole lot more now, but you won't save a nickle.

My late best friend shot a 35 Rem Marlin and put a bunch of White Tails down with it. He wouldn't hunt with anything but that gun. He got to know it, how it shot and was very good with it.

As Randy said, you now have the addiction. Both my boys reloaded with me when they were teenagers, but I never could get them interested in casting. There still is no better way to spend time together than casting/reloading/shooting/hunting in my opinion. Both are my hunting buudies now that they are grown (both in mid-to-late thirties now).

I find myself looking around the bench & shelves for a boolit I'm getting low on (stash). That way I can plan ahead and figure out what I need to cast next, you know, whether I really need them or not. Oh no - I just thought of another mold I must have, to cast some boolits I really don't NEED. It's all in good fun. Keeps me out of the bars!!! enjoy Mike

Don't kid yourself Les. You don't defray any expense; you just get to shoot more.[smilie=l:

the rcbs 200 is a nice one in the 35 remington.

I just got a the two cavity RCBS .35-200. Haven't cast any with it yet, but plan to. I would also suggest the Ranch Dog TLC359-190-RF. 190 grain tumble lubed boolit with a nice big meplat. RD will make the 6 cavity mold a 50/50 of plain base and gas checked as well.

I'm trying to decide between the two. I've read a bunch of .35 Remington's and Ranch Dogs posts about the .35, and it's opened my eyes as to the rounds' capabilities.

Your good fortune, Leslie, that you're starting with a 336 and the .35 Remington. That was my intro to cast boolits and eventually casting, and it never gave me any disappointments.

Welcome. Nice place, friendly folks.

I'm trying to find someone to let go of a 35 -200 RCBS mold for a reasonable price.
