Picked up from bargin table a single cavaty Lyman #358156 in fair shape. Mold has the following line below the 358156 mark, "L 925". Please advise to the meaning of "L" and the "925".
I will need to lap the sprue plate and mold top to remove some scratches.

L 925 .....if that is on both sides of the blocks , these are numbers put on the mold halves at the factory to keep them from getting separated during the manufacturing process.

The L could be a letter to identify the specific cherrie that was used to cut the mold.

Ben thanks. I thought that the 925 was a assy #, it was the L that I was not sure of.

I think that letters usually mean the cherry maker, although "U" can mean undersized.
