405gr boolit height??

Anybody know what the actual "height" of a 405gr cast 45/70 boolit is? Trying to make a lube cutter tool and I need the boolit height.....Just for your info, I dont have any boolits cast yet ALSO dont have a mould or I'd measure myself lol....Thanks in advance!!

I mostly tumble lube these days, or use my Lyman 450, but when I was pan lubing I had several cutters made from odd lengths of tubing. Made a few from fired cases by removing the rim. Exact length was never critical as each boolit pushed the previous one through and as each emerged from the case or tube I grabbed it, swiped the base across a towel and sat it on the bench.

As to the height of a 405 grain boolit, it's going to vary somewhat depending on the exact boolit profile, whether or not it's solid, Hollow Point, has a gas check and etc. All will be fairly close but if you want an exact measurement, you're going to have to specify the exact boolit.

just want a rough measurement, im going to use the lee mould 459-405-HB

Don't know about the Lee but the last group buy was .959 if that helps.

My Lee 457-405-F measures 1.007
But like ku4hx said, I just use an old 45-70 case that is drilled out so I can push the bullet back out.

yeah i could do that but i enjoy having a lil project to work on....i was going to make a small syringe looking thingy with a spring loaded boolit pusher outter so i could cut the boolit out and then push the plunger down to release the boolit......im bored, like my other thread says, I ve already made my own ingot moulds and my own casting ladle lol
