1895 stock interchangeability

I have a Marlin 1895 45/70 that I need to add a Limbsaver or similar recoil pad to. I have the slip on version now, but its too long in this configuration and as I'd like to keep the current stock original, was thinking about picking up a used one to cut and modify as needed. Will the 336 or 1894 stocks work on my 1895? Its a straight grip if that matters.

If your 336 stock is of similar vintage, it will interchange. Having typed that, straight grip and pistol grip will not interchange without also swapping trigger guard plates and their associated screws.

midway carries new walnut stocks with the pad installed. do a search for marlin 1895. less than 130.00
