Here's a pic of a notched .22 I thought you might enjoy. BTs notch die and Danrs swage dies. Wonder what this will do to a gopher?

If your gophers are like our prairie dogs imagine using a red paint ball and having it hit a block wall at 10'. I don't even bother looking for them anymore, it ends up like your looking for pieces.

BOOM! No more squirrel!
I'm working on both of your 40 cal dies. Will be ready soon.
Good shooting

VERY nice! We have the same gophers down here, that little number would do the job about perfect!

How about a shellholder?

Seems I recently forgot to include a shell holder "base punch" in a recent order :) as I recal I had it in the mail the same day.
I do not supply the neccessary shell holders. Obviously the associated shell holder for the specific brass case can be found anywhere reloading supplies are sold. As for commercial jackets without a rim you can simply use a flat toped swage die base punch to push jacket into die.
I suppose there might be a case where a customer might not have a flat top base punch. In that case feel free to let me know and I can provide one.
Good shooting and Swage On!

I was thinking of a flat punch with a small hole the size of a derimmed 22 case. I'm in for 1.

What I did was, after seating the core, take the die by hand and just push down on the jackets. most notched just fine but some required a slight tap. A lot faster than running them through the press.

That could work? I'll have to think on it a bit. Might work real good. I'll experiment a bit.

Heliman, I think that bullet will do to a Gopher about what an un-notched one will.

While that may in fact be true, it's just not as cool! :D

Just got back from a great hunt. The gophers are out and the coyotes are coming to the call readily. Total was about 400 gophers and 4 coyotes, all taken with with these bullets. VERY effective on the gophers. We had 4 bald eagles following us looking for remains but these bullets don't leave much after they hit a gopher! Some were out to 300 yds so accuacy was not a issue. The coyotes didn't move when shot and only one had a exit wound that would have caused any fur damage. It was fun to see what these would do after a winter of planning. Can't wait for next weekend. Time to reload some more.

That is one sweet looking round you have there. I have a similar set up but with Corbin's set up. My problem was figuring out how to notch it, now the ideals are flowing.

Nice looking but the .22 jackets are already thinner than commercial and seem to blow up pretty well as is. be interesting to compare group size, notched against as swaged.
