I have a bunch of 275 gr boolits in 45 cal
just don't sit rite about the thought of melting them down
so............
if a guy was wanting to use them in his acp revo
where would you start
with say bullseye, unique and or 2400 :holysheep

Yeah, I asked the same thing. And I got FLAMED!!! I mean like bad. Even when I told people that my 45 was a strong make and I upgraded the springs and installed buffers. I still got the "what fer".

That being said, I looked in my Lee manual and it had loads for 250 grain jacketed I believe it was. My heavies were only 240 grainers. So I just used that load data and ran. I dont remember the load, but it was SLOW. I would try to use 2400 somehow. Lemme see what I can come up with.

flamed :coffee:
my blackhawk convertible I was pushing a 250 gr to 1200 fps
now that aint no spring gun tactic but in a revo its a different ball game
I never went heavier than that so hence the question
I figured someone somewhere has done these things I am thinking of :drinks:

This is my guess, and ONLY my guess. This load data came off Ammoguide dot com and I would think the difference in jacketed versus cast would be the same as a difference of 10 grains boolit weight. For the record, I have not shot ANY of the above mentioned loads.

I learned quickly that there are just certain questions one does not ask unless one wants to put a big target on their backs.
That being said i have used the Mihec 270 SAA bullet that wieghs out at slightly over 280 grs from ww in a 45 Auto Rim and the 250 gr magma RNFP that weighs out at 255 gr from WW in a 45 Auto at close to 950 fps.
It can be safely done but don't tell anyone. You will be told how wrong you are.

You are absolutely right. Target on back, nothin. Target on underwear more like it. But WHY? We use this website to think outside the box. To challenge the Norm. If we did not try something new, we would never learn.

I will put it out there.

I do shoot 260 cast bullets out of a 45 acp 1911 Springfield. MY load is safe in MY gun. I use BE. I will not list a charge, but I have posted it before if you look. I did have a buffer but after 16 rounds it fell apart. I switched to a 22 pound spring. I started low and worked up, using the 22 pound spring the whole time. When I started to get reliable feeding is where I stopped. No the buffer falling apart did not stop me as I had had that happen when shooting 185gr bullets.

I use these loads for pin shoots. Bullet is the LEE 452-255-RF.

Good luck and stay safe.

White Eagle;
I have some authoritative data on the .45 Auto Rim that includes heavy bullets in modern revolvers.

Send me a PM with your email address and ask for the PDF on the .45 Auto Rim with heavy bullets.

I'll get it back to you by return mail.
