Here's an NOE group buy (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=122019) that is close to closing. Delivery is scheduled for April, IIRC.

I just was looking at that group buy I came real close to posting and attempting to jump in, but it looks like that mold will cast .434 which is a little big for my needs. Thanks for the suggestion other than diameter that was just what I had in mind.

Lyman still sells them, and the current production is much closer to Elmer's original intent
than they have been at many times in the past.

Current Lyman molds have been hit and miss. Quality control is very relaxed lately and having a current mold cast undersized is very possible.

Try this one from Accurate Molds:

Tom will make sure to have it drop at your intended diameter.

If you want 3 equal width drive bands just tell Tom what you want and he can modify things for you.

I was thinking the same thing about the new lyman molds (heard they cast small). I am currently using a 429421 mold I bought used (#$## eBay). It works but it‘s a fighter.

I looked at that very accurate mold on their site but it looked like a shorter version of the Keith SWC. I guess I should send him an email about a 429421 clone.

I put diamond paste on bullet with a screw in the base and spun it in the mold to lap it. Really improved the drop. Also experiment dropping earlier. I think the Keith grabs the mold as it shrinks lengthwise.

I think guys that lap with toothpaste must have aluminum molds. Arrowhead Lapidary will sell small quantities of abrasives reasonably to polish Iron.

The measurements are there and you can compare with yours. The 43-250K is the RCBS Keith version which is very similar to the 429421.

Some talk about the RCBS molds

and some great pictures of the various Keith type molds.

Does diamond paste come in different grit? If so what grit did you use?

I have actually be thinking of lapping this mold. It is a 2 banger and although both cavities are pretty bad at dropping bullets one of them is near unusable. I would probably start with that one.
