Well I spent the afternoon honing my welding skills.....I am new to casting, and am trying to work on a bit of a budget so I decided to make my own Ingot mould from 2" channel iron, and my own casting ladle from a piece of 2" exhaust pipe. The ladle's wooden handle is not fixed to the steel shaft, it swivels around.....to pour, put one hand on the wooden handle, and give the T handle a twist! I thought it was a good idea...lol. I also welded a little stopper ahead and behind the wooden handle so it wouldn't slide back and forth on the shaft. I have tried both of them, both of which work flawlessly.....cost for both.....about 10 bucks.:bigsmyl2:

just remember to wear gloves with that ladle. Heat travels. Other than that, both projects look great.

Don't be trying to pull one of those Chinese ebay stunts.
A deal is a deal.
Don't make me have to send over my buddy?

Good looking ladle, I really like the rolling wooden grip and T-handle, and looks like your Rowell-type pouring head is made right, too. My only question is did you put any "draft" angle on the ends of your ingot mould? I've found the hard way that about 5 degrees of draft on the end plates makes the ingots just fall out, but if you make them straight, they wedge in there and are a real pain to get out.

Too bad about the bankruptsy.
You could very easily have sold some of those.
If you use a connector nut at the handle it could come apart there so it would fit in a medium Priority mail box.
Could probably get way more than $10 for the new model.
I paid over $20 for a little RCBS dipper and that one you made could be so much more useful.

I have made hundreds of tons of stuff with channel and it was all made exactly the same.
the channel that I used for the molds I made, had a very slight taper but also had a little rounded edge that was just enough to make the molds a pain to remove until I took off the rounded lip with a 4" grinder.
If I made the ingot small enough they would fall out but a full one would hang up on the lip.

They look great, nothing like something you made your self for cheap, way to go. Seen a thread earlier the molds were made out of angle, thought that was a good ideal, channel works to.
