I have a question for all of the .41 mag afficinados. What in y'all's opinion is the better bullet? The RCBS 215gr SWC or the H&G #258 Keith Bullet. I've never used either and would like to hear about the pros and cons of each from those that have used them.

personally I have used the Saeco clone of the #258- Mr. Keith said they were the same except for a slightly thinner front driving band- Lyman's version 410459 both HP and solid and the RCBS-- all cast well -- all shot well ---RCBS is shorter if that is an issue as I remember-- I just liked the looks of the longer nosed bullet- either should be fine- the RCBS is likely easier to find -- but Mihia molds has a 4 cavity # 258 group buy if your interested

Haven't tried the RCBS bullet but I do have a 10 cavity H&G #258 and its a fine bullet in .41 Mag. I supplied the sample slugs for the Group Buy Glynn41 is referring to and I'm in on the buy. (The H&G is a heavy rascal and very tiring to cast with.) It's for a brass HP mold, the solids have already shipped.

I do like RCBS molds, just wish they came in more than two-cavity versions.

I liked the old Lee heavy weight plain base SWC seated out to the front of the cylinder with 296 but it crippled up the middle joint in my trigger finger for about six months.

I have shot the H&G #258 in the 41 Mag (in a Smith mod 57) and it is an excellent bullet that shot accurately with no leading. The loads were not full house, but in the 800-900 range and the grouping was good at 25 and 50 yards. LLS

I have the RCBS 41-215 and it works pretty decent. I use it for IHMSA field pistol.

Keith believed the front driving band thickness was critical. The mold manufactures would take his design and change the lube groves to rounded and make the front driving band thinner which didn't make him happy.

Greetings
Depends on the application. I choose to hunt with at least the 240 grainers if the critter is going to weight more that 150 pounds. I prefer a 265+ GC in my Dan Wesson for serious hunting of large corn crunchers and piggys. If all I am gonna do is crawl about ditches and woods edges for ground hogs, coy-dogs or other pests than anything around 200 grains will do. Plinking then again any old accurate chunk of lead to include .412 RB will take care of those wiley cans and bullseyes.
In the 41 Taurus Titanium 4" I am looking forward to loading up the 41 HB Group Buy at about 950 fps.. Thinking about turning it around backwards and see what it does to gallon water jugs.
