A month or so ago I was at my local scrap yard selling some copper, they had a bucket about 2/3 full of boolits mostly lead I asked if they would sell them sure .40 a lb there was 72lbs in the bucket everything on top looked like 44 bullets I really didn't do a thing with them until yesterday I was cleaning up the shop and decide to dump the bucket on the floor right at the bottom is a pair of molds lyman 2C-429421 and a 1C-429215HP needless to say pleasent surprise, who ever casted them did a great job nice and clean and the weight were about 1-2grs apart on the one's I tested some were lubed with alox which had melted in spots, i'll melt the lube out and relube the one that need it.

What really PMO is the HP pin was not there:bigsmyl2: but some how i'll take it, what
was really nice the molds were wrapped in tape.

Bradh I don't know how long you been casting but just 4-5 years ago pre-obozo I could find some great deals on anything to do with casting craigs list back then was a gold mine here in SoCal, now guys want retail for rust.

Sounds like whoever sold them to the yard was cleaning out "all grandad's old junk". Occasionally I come across one of these deals, but mostly I just hear about them after everything has been hauled to the dump:(

You found a bucket of scrap lead bullets that were usable? Then, you found two molds in the bottom of the bucket?
There must be an interesting little story of the trip from caster to scrap yard.
I would just be happy to find a bucket of usable lead alloy in a bucket that wouldn't need smelting--particularly for anything less than $0.50/lb.

Where is this scrap yard of milk and honey?
Nice find!

It's on Mission in Pomona usually they won't sell anything but the woman in front of me bringing in cans saw a old copper pot and gave the guy $20 for it how could he tell me no, I know it went into his pocket but I don't care, i'm back there today with about 100lbs of Copper I need to fund a new pistol scope, I have been doing Bus. with this scrap yard for 30 years with my plumbing Bus.

Ask Buckshot, he can make you a pin. Percentage wise, that's a HUGE additional investment, I know...

Back from the scrap yard no lead this trip but a pocket full of cash $3.36 a lb for copper took in 112lbs yes sir I see a scope in my future.

I have several extra pins that will fit.

:oHow does thet happen!! I would praise the Lord for a bucket of .44 boolits for .40/lb in any design let alone my namesake! but to find the molds... That is creapy! Maybe the casting gods have selected you for an important mission to protect the virtue of casters and boolit shooters around the world?? This is deep man! Stuff like that doesn't just happen to people!! Awesome find

I have the bucket dumped on the floor of my shop and 6 coffee cans going right now, seems like there is 5 different lead bullets i'm sure glad I have a digital scale it would be a PIA to weight these on my 10-10 scale, there seems to be 400 at least in jacketed boolits.

You do realize that to propitiate the little red gods, you MUST offer one of those moulds as a gift, right? Or your luck will turn far, FAR to the worse.

I suggest you run a random drawing here. Naturally. I will abstain.
