Anybody use the 200gr RCBS SWC mold in their 1911's? I picked up this mold for $10 and it drops boolits like rain. I am going to test em but was just curious if any here use this mold.

Never used that mold but have a bunch of Lee's for 45 ACP. Sure looks like some nice bullets. Good find for the price of the RCBS mold. Info us on how it punches holes.

What a steal at $10.00. It looks to be the RCBS version of the old Lachmiller 45 ACP 200 gr mold and should work quite well.

That sure looks like my Lyman 452460, which is a very accurate bullet in all my .45 ACP's. I guess Lyman had to find it somewhere.

I have the Lyman also, I have no photo of the Lyman but it looks like this.

You got a good one there for the .45 ACP. Problem is to cast enough to keep it fed./beagle

I have that Mould was the 1st mould I ever bought 45-200-SWC, cast about 205-207 with lube

Overall length was 1.187" still have 400 or so lubed up ready to go.

it is going to have to take a back seat, I picked up 2 matching 4 cav moulds and cast two moulds at a time so output just can not compare

2 or 8 with a little bit more time for the 8 at a time really makes the lead level go down.

That was a bargain! I have the same RCBS mould and it cast great bullets. I've had little time to test for accuracy but the 45 feeds them well.

I loved that boolit. I used to use it for bullseye and IPSC shooting in the late 70's early 80's. It holds enough lube to get the job done and was so wasy to find a decent load it wasn't funny. IIRC - I used to shoot it over 5.2 Red Dot to make major with. Fed in every 1911 I ever owned.

Its pretty good in my RBH Colts too . It does drop nice boolits very easy casting too. Heck I even ran a few through an 1858 44 Remington.

What you have there looks to be a drawing from Lyman's literature and is not representative of the bullets cast by my 452460 mould, which look identical to the one I cited.

If your bullet looks like the one in the drawing, my guess is that it is older than mine, which was made about two years ago. Lyman has a reputation for changing bullet designs without adjusting the numerical designations.

Like I said, mine looks identical to the one I cited, having a sharp front cutting edge rather than the gentle slope depicted in your drawing.

Not familiar with that one, but (as said already) it looks a bit like a 452460, with a more
rounded nose. Shoudl be a good one if you can get it to feed.

Use the dismounted bbl as the gage to set LOA (and the mag gets a vote, too!) and add
enough TC to get it to seat fully in the chamber with no more than a one pound fingertip
push.

The RCBS 45-201-SWC and the H&G 68 are the two most accurate bullets I have found for the .45ACP.
Your bullets look very good, but the short nose is sometimes problematic for feeding and accuracy.
Looks like you COL is a bit short.
If they feed, have fun with 'em.

While Lyman is well known (at least by most on this forum) for changing the design of a boolit, I think RCBS isn't immune to it either. I have a 452460, and it looks very close to the drawing Rick posted. I used to have the RCBS mould originally discussed by the BigBlack, but it looked closer to the one in the picture Rick posted, with the meplat being larger than the one on BigBlack's boolits. It's possible that it's an optical illusion, and that the boolits in the first post are closer to Rick's than I think they are.
