I took my MKII Target 5.5" with a Bushnell TRS25 on it and my newest aquisition, the .500JRH BFR.

I wanted to adjust the sight on the MKII and try out the JRH.

I started with the MKII and got it pretty close. This is a 10 shot group I fired with it at 50yds. I was shooting Remington Golden bullets, which I have about a 10% dud rate on, but they sure are cheap. The best I ever did with the iron sights on this gun with this ammo was 1.3" @25yds. I'm not sure what happened on the flyer, but I'm not ruling out the opposite of a dud. This goup is just over 1.1" throwing out the flyer. The squares on these targets are 1/2". I might try one click right next time out.

The BFR was more of a "get to know" session. Since I don't have a mold yet, I bought the cheapest jacketed bullets I could find. Speer 350gr JSP deepcurls for $21/50. I loaded these over 33gr of H110 in Starline JRH brass with CCI 350 primers. This should be good for around 1400fps for a SWAG. I had to crank the rear sight all the way down and to the right to hit at 12 o'clock with a 6 o'clock hold. 2 groups here at 25 yds. The one to the left is a sight adjuatment group under 2" for 4 shots. The first shot was about a foot high. The group to the right is about 1.7" for 5 shots. Not bad for no load work up an just getting to know it.

I'm going to put the taller sight on it and hope that heavy boolits shoot to the left. DOH I mean right!

My short front sight was .460". The tall one is .610".

Did your 475 come with extra sights? Mine didn't, but it is a moot point now.

My .500JRH did. .475 and .500s&w did not.

I should have bid on your .475... I think that was your porch.

Oh, and this load in the JRH was not too bad. I had a friend use his phone to video me shooting it offhand 5 shots. You can tell I relaxed a little on the 2nd shot. He is supposed to email me the video.

33gr of H110 + dusk = !

:) Nah wasn't mine. I thought I owned the only BFR in MS. Of course I may as of now. Oh yea, you know mine wouldn't be wearing rubber!

I love the JRH even more then the .475 BFR. Seems to twist my wrist a lot less from the bench. Recoil is there to be sure but it is not earth shaking.
Remember the twist rate and go to a heavier boolit. Mine is 440 gr. It is hard and expensive to find/buy bullets.
I had a shock yesterday when trying to find Tru-Oil stock finish. It is only a little over $4 so my friend added some other things to the order on line. Then the postage hit home at almost $12 so he shut it down.
That is over 50% of the price of the goods. From Midsouth at that, I would hate to see what Midway wants.
To buy bullets would be crazy. I don't know what we are going to do, I always need small items but the price can double with postage and handling. I would love to send boolits to fellas but I can't afford it on SS. I have a silent scream in the post office! :( Even sending one boolit so a fella can get a mold made for it is crazy.

On Midsouth, if you can find a business to ship to (like a friend's shop or your work if not retired), select Fedex Business. It's about half the normal cost. That's what I do and have things sent to work.

Or when someone wants a boolit, just ask for a few bucks to cover shipping via Paypal as a gift. No fee that way and it is for a gift.
