When this mold sold new, a dollar bill would actually buy something !

I compute that a $1.00 in the early Fifties is now worth $10.00. Seriously, that is what I see day after day. It helps me to accept the "real world" cost of things.

We are actually paying less today, than in 1950, in real terms. Figure it out, I have.

By the way, that Lyman 225415 is a dandy mould in my rifles (actually, the BULLETS from that mould). I use linotype for these tiny bullets as it casts so well, and you can get a lot of those bullets in a pound (rounded off, 7000 grs divided by 50 grs gives 140 bullets to the pound. If you do not have access to linotype, you can get good results with WW + 2% tin.

Dale 53:

I've been shooting the Lee Bator with good results in my .223 Rem.

Now, I'll give this 225415 a try. I'm sizing to .225 dia with a Lee Push thru sizer with good results.

Thanks,

Ben

Yep a buck would buy between an hour and an hour and a half of labor . I agree with Dale they are cheaper now, just like the sub $20 model 92s. I'm sure that some things were actually cheaper then but not many.

Last Big Reno Gun Show I picked up a Lyman two-die .22 Hornet set for $15 that looked NIB. Original price was marked on the box $11.50. That goes back over 40 years. Now all I need is a shell holder, SR primers, powder, bullets, a mould, GH&I dies, and a rifle!
