I have cast some 7x54mm for my rolling block no gas check. I need a good load for them. Thanks

139gr cast with WW.

Start with 5 gr Bullseye and work up to 7 gr in 1/2 gr increments. Velocity will be in the 900 - 1050 fps range with the accuracy load. You can cast them soft, leave "as cast" and a light coat of LLA will do nicely.

That's it. No filler or wad BTW.

Could I use Green Dot and Blue Dot to the same powder weight.I shot some loaded with RD at 7grs and they shot good no case proplems.

10 gr Unique, the 'universal load'.

Blue Dot does spooky things when you short load it. I would stick to only book charges with that powder.

With loads down in velocity where accuracy will be best the faster burning powder will be best because it will ignite and burn efficiently at the lower pressures. The slower burning the powder the higher the psi must be for it to ignite and burn efficiently. When that point is reached wth such powders the velocity is most often too high for best accuracy.

7 X 54?? or 7 X 57?
Blue Dot will work if you use a minimum of 11grs.

I load both 7x57 and 7x54 the thread is about a 7x57 rolling block non gas check load that I am looking for.

Try the Red Dot. If that doesn't work using a slower powder won't either. Bullseye will be the answer.

I found Red Dot to be a good powder for light loads in several rifle calibers. I think the advice to use it is good. Those old Rolling Blocks are fun. I had a 7mm one for a while but gave it back to my Dad. I may have to get iot back from him sometime.

What exactly is a 7x54? Is this for real? 7mm-08 would be 7x51, I would think.

IIRC there is a finish wildcat at 7x54 - 7x54R - necked down 7.62x54R
I wonder if it does for that cartridge what .270 does for 30-06
