Bore polisher

What can a guy use to polish there bore? Is there anything a guy can get at a local hardware store. I live in a remote area and hate to have to order every thing. I have a couple rifles that like to throw the first cold shot high and I read a guy polished his bore and it cured it. Any advice for help here would be appreciated.

Flitz or Semi-Chrome rubbed into a patch and wrapped around cleaning brush has worked OK for me. It's not as aggressive as casting a lead lap to use the polish with and less likely to polish away too much. Using a bore guide to prevent wear in the throat and lead is good.

I've seen a barrel maker use Scothbrite pads de-laminated to about 1/2 thickness wrapped around a bronze bore brush and polish the bore. Seems to work
