I loaded up some 9mm cast boolits I lubed with the Felix lube I use for revolver boolits and they are very smoky. Never had this with .44 or .357. Lubed boolits with my Star, like always, and used my standard load of 4.0 grs. Titegroup. Wrong lube for autoloader? Powder not good with cast? I usually shoot Berry's 115 DS and they don't smoke at all. Any and all insight welcome. Thanks.

I shoot alot of different boolits with Felix and have not had any issues with excessive smoke.

That's been my experience too. What is different or what am I doing wrong?

Could be the powder. I don't use titegroup so I can't test it to see. Maybe try a different powder and see how/if it smokes as badly. Could just be the combination of TG and felix.

Could be powder or alot of other things like air temp, humidity things like that. A calm muggy day will allow what smoke you get to hang around and almost stick to you comparied to a calm low humidity day.

it could just be powder blow-by also.
i have had some powders that just produced a poof of smoke when fired.
i had some 231 loads in a 38 that smoked almost as much as black powder.

I agree with the others, sometimes it is a combination of other things that make your load smoke. The lube is only one piece of the puzzle that can cause smoke.

It's likely the powder. TG burns very, very hot, likey burning the lube before the bullet gets a good seal going. Not my fav powder for anything really.

Try using the Recluse 45/45/10 lube. It doesn't smoke hardly at all. I use it for 9mm, .45acp and .45 Colt eventhough the boolit design is for regular lube grooves, except for the 9mm. The 9mm is a TL design. Also I use bullseye. Just my thoughts. BC

Thanks for all the input. I'll experiment some and see what I come up with.
