Is there a .338 wildcat in between the .32 Winchester and the .35x30-30?
Anybody tried one out?

The 200 grain RD mold needs a home and I'm still working my way up to sending a 99 Savage off to get rebored to .338Federal. The Fed is probably the better mouse trap but thought I'd inquire about a possible .338x30-30 just the same.

I've messed with the 338 Marlin Express and a old old Marlin model 1895 in 33 WCF and it seems to me all the bullets I used in those two would be a bit long in COL for the 30-30 case . Granted you could always sezt them deeper then the crimp groove , but if you do that I'm not sure you wouldn't be on the ogive instead of the main part of the bullet .

It would be fun to do, provided you go with custom barrel with custom boolit. I would optimize for 16 twist to make the gun compatible with the 32 and 35. 35s shoot good at 200 grains; 32s shoot good at 180 grains (170 RCBS); so the 33would do good at 190 actual. Copy the RCBS boolit line when doing so. ... felix

Bullets would be a problem and you'd need a slower twist than most 338's. 35 cal is more friendly $ wise.

It would be a cast only as the jacketed bullets would be to solid for how hfast you could puxsh them. Sell the mold and get a 32 Special.
