Has anyone out there bought one of Erik's Lee HP molds yet? I dont have much experience with HP molds at all and I was wondering how easy they are to cast with. I have talked to a few people about his quality and everyone says he is a true craftsman, and I have never heard anything bad about his products.

I have a Rock Island 1911 A1 5" that is a little finicky about nose profile. It will eat anything with a RN profile with no issues, but certain SWCs and other profiles are another story. I have tried Lee's TC mold and it feeds very well in this gun, then I saw this on Erik's site. http://www.hollowpointmold.com/forsale/sale-pictures/?item=196

I have been wanting a HP mold for my 1911 (hope to have a 3" Kimber for CCW someday) and I think this would work just great as I tend to like heavy for caliber bullets anyways.

Since I already had one without HP I had Erik make a TL452-230-TC for me for the reason you state about 1911 feeding issues with some profiles. So far I have cast about 500 really nice looking boolits with it and I have to tell you the quality of his workmanship is superb! He even installed screw in handle pins as well as a set screw for the sprue plate pivot screw. This mold is a joy to use!

Aer you dipping those in alox? Also, what is the weight in HP form?
The mold I tried before was dropping right at 240grs solid.

240 is right where my solids drop too and the HP's are right at 220. And yes, they are "pan" lubed with my own pistol boolit lube which does primarily contain alox

I got one of the 452-228-1R moulds that Erik has converted with his Inset Bar v2 system. Even though the mould is now a hollow point mould, it casts as easy, or easier than a Lee 2 cavity mould does normally. Part of this is because the Inset Bar acts as a much larger alignment pin than the 2 small pins normally on the bottom of Lee 2 cavity moulds. Here's a picture of a pile of boolits I cast with it:

New .40's from one of Erik's new v2 HP Lee molds. Works very well.
