Hey people. I have a mold that is not marked, except for the number 327 on the mold itself. It casts a 195 bullet (might be a little light with the alloy we were using) that measures like .404. I have no clue what this is or what it is for. Anybody got any clue? For sure, I don't. Thanks

A photo of the mold and/or bullet would be a major help in this detective work.....................

OK. Left it over at a buddy's who was casting today. Will get it back and post photos next day or so. Will have photos of mold and bullets cast. Thank you for the suggestion.

if it's a round nose or round flat point it's for the 38-40.
they were in the 180-190 gr weight range.
but yeah, a better description, and most definately a picture would help.

Your photos don't show very much detail ( sort of like standing 6 feet away from the mold and trying to see details ) , but as best I can see it looks like a bevel based .40 S& W auto or heavy 10 mm bullet ? ?

Looks like a Saeco mold to me. Someone converted it to use on a Master Caster at some point. Made for 10mm/40 S&W, just casts a bit fat it seems.

Ben: I'm sorry, that's the best my camera will do. Double click on the photos and they will come up. Fat upper band, Fat lower band. Kind of reminds me of a Keith type. BCall: You're right. Exactly. You remember me from the 6mm?

I can't read any numbers on the mold. If it is a Saeco then it could be their 40 cal #327 mold. If it isn't the 327 might be the cherry number or another designated manufacturing number.

MTGianni: The only marking on the mold is 327 in an upper right portion of the mold half. It's like the markings on an H-G if you are familiar with them, but this is not an HG. Usually, cherry numbers are bottom center of the mold half. I'm telling you, this thing is driving me crazy!!

look at magmas sight [i looked at my older chart i have from them] they have a mold that looks just like that for the 40 cal.
they do it in 200 and 220 gr for the 40 and 10 mm.
the mold looks like one of thiers someone maybe drilled it for a different sprue plate.
but you can buy thier molds set up for hand casting, and handles from them to fit thier molds also.
the 200-220 specs out to pour in the 403-404 size with 2/6/92 alloy but they have tolerances and i have almost always gotten thier spec size from ww's and 2% tin.

I don't know. I have searched everything I can think of, Castpic's reference section, the web, and ask my friends around here. I have looked at cherry numbers and mold numbers and have not come up with anything. Montana Bullet Works makes a 10 mm in an RCBS mold 82068 that looks just like this.
