If you train the dog to pick up brass at the range I'll not only be impressed, but I'll even make an offer.

With the cost of gas being so high I saw a similar occurance where 1 dog ran out of gas and another was pushing it from behind!Robert

I feel like the dog in front every time I price Gasoline, Corn on the cob and now Dog Food.
I hope the Ethanol pushers of America are happy being millionairs

Border collies will pick up brass, sort it by headstamp and wire a PID onto your pot.

This is about labs, though. Labs are about enthusiasm, not intelligence.

Most labs are too stupid to keep their ears right side out, but the room is always better with a lab in it.

Ventilated - yes (kidding), articulated - no. Reticulated - python. My rotter likes to lay on the concrete on her back with her ears laying straight out to the sides.

I was picking up brass last week and the little feral dog in my avatar kept sniffing the ground around my hands trying to see what I found worth picking up. She couldn't figure it out.

So yours like porkies?? Mine seemed to like getting sprayed by skunks. 3 separate time PHEW!!! :holysheep

He was one HECK of a hunter though! And one hell of a companion! May have been dumb about skunks, but he was real smart about other things!

Don't feel bad--my current mutt likes the skunks too, but I had a shephard that didn't just like the porkies, she would all-out dive on them--came home pretty regularly with quills up both front leggs, chest, neck, up her face, and over the top of her head. I think she was going for the disguise effect--or possible just rock-stupid.

I have made it a hard a fast rule for many years not to trust *anyone* who does'nt like dogs. Some folks just are'nt cat people, but there's something hardwired incorrectly if you don't like dogs.

I like all dogs better than most people.

With the exception of pit bulls. There's something wrong with those dogs...

Even figuring them into the mix, dogs numbers are far better than peoples numbers.

Winelover:

Love the shepherd with the glasses. Pulled up to a Denny's once and in the pickup next to me was a dog with glasses and a pipe in its mouth. Sat that way the whole time I waited for the missus to finish her business. It sat behind the wheel. Didn't get to see who drove when his master came out.

Taken as a whole the only thing wrong with pit bulls are that 95% of them are owned by a holes. Given half a chance they make good dogs. Never owned one, just my observations. I walked through the pound in Reno NV a while back and way over half the dogs there were pits, unattended by their pinnacle of humanity owners.

The original helper Labrador, if you can only show him what you want him to do, he will do it over and over again. All for just a cookie, or a little a bit of praise.

A Labrador is unconditional love.

There's really no such thing as a pit bull. They are really called the Staffordshire Terrier according to the American Kennel Club. Just thought I'd throw that in. BC

It's downright amazing how things can get turned upside down over time. Remember the dog with the circle around it's eye in the Our Gang series? American Bull Terriers were prized for decades for their loyalty and fearless protection of children and family.

As has been said, ***wipes breeding and training for violence have done serious damage to the breed and the breeds reputation.

Have alway's thought those folks should be subject to Texas Express Lane Justice.

We have an articulated dog also, she sleeps in some of the most uncomfortable looking positions imaginable.

On another note we are never alone when we go to the kitchen and they come running when we open the freezer door, you would think they are getting a T-bone when we give them an ice cube, lol.

yep that would be Petey in the little rascals. You can see a similar yet less violent breeding plan with most of the show dogs. Many lose the essence of the breed.

I say nothing quite like a good mutt. our corgie/redhealer mix is a great dog, but we got him at 12 years old. He was already done with all the speedy young dog stuff.

The worst thing about a lab is that when they finally slow down and use the brain they are just about too old to do anything or their hips are going.
