I smelted some tin today, what I think is pure tin. Melted right around 420 degrees. The ingots had a golden look to them. Anyone seen this before?

Yes - the heat is too high and the tin is oxidizing - check out this thread (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=63550) for some interesting pics ;)

Yes, that has happened to me. All of my pewter ingots have a yellowish, golden tint to them on the top surface.
