Last weekend we had an informal shoot in Miss. For those that were asking about Perdisoli sights and Uberti High walls. Well there was a 4 way shootoff for first place and my above combo was 2 of them. I taught a new comer to shoot and did his sight setting while he pulled the trigger.
The other 2 places in the shoot off were both with a C. Sharps custom rifle. A young fellow and his bride were the other 2 shooters. SHE won !!! It didn't help that my wife was the scorer for the match and picked the only range that I didn't have sight settings for, and Sweetpea was the only one to hit it during the match. Something a foul here me thinks.
The rifles were both shooting Lee 500 gr pointed bullets, his were straight wheelweights, mine were 1:20 tin lead.
His load was 65 grs of Swiss 1 1/2 and mine was duplex. 4.7 gr of "pistol powder" under 55 gr Goex 3 F with a card board over powder wad and a felt wad soaked in melted SPG bullet lubed with SPG.
Out of the 12 shooters using al kinds of Black Magic loads and blow tubes, us "go Easy folks" had a good time.
The BP cap and ball pistol match was won buy a Canadian visitor with a borrowed gun.
Least you think these are pansys the big Canadian fella builds double rifles and the Hubby of the hubby and wife Sharps shooters was National long range pistol champ 2 out of 5 years.
Oh...BTW we had a BP cannon shoot too and as always the highlight of the day was Buff and his 16 lb bowling ball motar. Winners of the cannon shoot used a homemade bronze bbled navel gun replica to near center an 8.5X11 inch piece of tablet paper.
Good Shooting Y'All and Thanks again to Powder Inc. for getting me my 3 F powder in time and donating the 4F as prizes.
