I have never done a chamber cast. never felt the need. I just bought a reamer to change 6.5 jap to 6.5-257. I had two 6.5 barrels to do. the first barrel I had bought off ebay years ago and never shot. I gave the reamer a few turns, tried a case and it was about there. few more turns and it closed. shot the gun and the case was swelled ahead of the head. case doesn't enter the resizing die. I figured I must have not held the reamer steady. next barrel, took hours to get to where it would close on a case with slight resistance. first barrel was already chambered for 6.5-257, apparently, and never marked. I'm not sure what would have happened if I would have reformed some 220 swift cases and tried to shoot them in the loose chamber but it might not have been good.

I would just set the barrel back the approprate amount and rechamber it that should solve your problem with the first barrel.
