it cold be anything probably pure but you can find out get a thermometer in the pot and see what temp it melts at.

judging from the markings Its meant for Ballast weight. so really it could be pure lead or an alloy. but usually ballast is pure.

I agree, it's probably a ballast weight of some sort. It's my experience like with sail boat ballast the mfg will use anything they can get and melt into a mold that suits their purpose, alloy, BHN etc have little to no meaning in this application and so could be anything.

Hewitt Metals was a solder and other like-type metals manufacturer from years ago. I learned how to solder my first calculator (HP kit) years ago using a roll of Hewitt solder (50/50). That was 30+ years ago. You might get lucky and find someone on here that recognizes it, or maybe someone that's been in the business of using it in manufacturing years ago....I don't know.

Would be interesting to see what it melts at and how it cast. Yet another puzzle to solve...
