I'm very new to finding pewter, so here goes, today I was at my favorite junk yard and was there just to score on some more dental lead. There in the bottom of the box with the dental lead was some candle sticks and a real fancy plate.
I looked to see if it said anything like pewter and several said leonard, japan, a couple said Boliva and the plate said hudson, usa....
So i asked the guy to load it all up, that I wanted it all. 121 pounds of lead and pewter.
So i melted down all the pewter and got about 3.20 pounds of hopefully pewter for 60 cent a pound.
Is this stuff for real? Your thoughts please. Hoping to harden up the dental leaad with it.

Can't tell you a thing from your description and no pics. Now that it's in ingots all you can do is try some in a small melt and see how it casts.

All your pewter stuff is pewter. Leonard and Bolivia candlesticks are weighted. The Occupied Japan piece probably had a cityscape scene from somewhere in the world. I got one that had the Empire State Building.

Most imitation pewter is aluminum based and impossible to bend with your bare hands and melts at a much higher temp then pewter.

If you melted it at a reasonable temp, sounds like pewter.

Here's a pic of some pewter. Sadly, it was melted and made into ingots the same day. Wonder how it's family is doing? :)

Those make pretty boolits. The rest of the collection would do the same thing.

"Sadly"; I would not have melted those!

Huh! They look like alloy sweetener to me (assuming the right price).

If it appeals to your eye, who cares if an ingot is cup or pitcher shape?

They look best as a puddle.

Here's a pic of the pewter melting, I did this in December. If you were good friends or were family of this pewter, you may want to look away now.
