3000fps is what i'm aiming for with a 55g (rcbs) heat treated ww with about 5% tin.
what lube recipe should i try?
planning on using h4895, also have a small amount of imr 4064
any one had any luck with that sort of speed in 223?

Yes. But not with that bullet weight.

I had to either go up to a 22-250 for extra case volume or drop down to a 48 grain slug in the 223. But I was trying to hold sub MOA. If you can be happy with 1 1/2", you ought to do well with slower powders assuming you have the barrel length to burn it. Primer will be critical in your efforts.

H322 or Varget or BlC2 should get you the speed. Good luck with the leading!!!! As B.A. was implying, it'll come at rifle pressures(48000 psi), and isn't conducive to good accuracy therefore.

And..., I'm not sure that I wouldn't use a different alloy, say WW and magnum shot (antimony and arsenic), or if you can, lino. And back off on the tin. Boolit fit is going to be critical. I'm also thinking a 14 twist. Any particular reason you need all that speed? Just curious. sundog

thanks for the feed back, just thought I'd have a play and see what sort of speed i could get out of them. minute of bunny is all i want out of them.
if it leads up bad theres a big bottle of Mercury on the shelf!! 20" T/C, 1:12 twist.
wonder what sort of speed a cast boolit in my 17 rem barrel would do??

too much time on my hands coz I'm off work at the moment!!

If your going to shoot for 3000 fps with good accuracy with boolits theres two things I would do. Drop your boolit weight 10gn from your mentioned 55gn, and use speed green lube. Reason for both is the same, pressure.
The lighter boolit will lower it and the speed green will handle it.
