I am new to the 500 S&W Mag == have the 8 3/8" barrel. Just received by new NOE 500 S&W John Ross Quintaweight Design Mould and it looks just too purty to use!!

I got the 4 cavity mould casting the 450, 500, 550, and 600 grain boolits. The problem I am having now is finding loading data for the 500 and above grain boolits. Seems all my manuals stop at 500gr jacketed bullets. Also, since these are not gaschecked, what alloy would be recommended. I have WWs, pure PB, some lino, and a lot of range scrap.

Any loading data out there? Any recommended alloy for the 500 and above grain boolits?

Thanks in advance!!

this is a great load, i cant say if this is a max load but i dont think you can compress it much more, the OAL can get shorter as i had went to 2.198 and there is a differance in pressure, imagine that! Be Safe

I cast 20 of each using pure lino, bottom pour Lee 10lb pot -- they look really, really good ... However, I do believe the pure lino made them that way -- going to try 50/50 lino to PB or WW tomorrow and see how that works ....

Any 600 gr load data?

Try this page from the John Ross site, has a boat load of loads !

http://john-ross.net/loading.htm

Figures the best loads are with a surplus powder that you have to buy 8 pounds of ! Although, with as much powder that can be dumped in that case - might not be too bad !

From some research, Accurate Arms 4100 (if you can find it) looks good.

Can't wait to shoot some of the 600 grainers !
