I have a Lyman 452484. I wanted to use it for my 45 acp but needed some information. I can't find a mention of it in the Lyman cast bullet handbook 4th edition and just wanted to know load data, top punch used for sizing and what not. If anyone has experience with this mould I'd appreciate the knowledge.:lovebooli

Big Shot,

The 452484 is nothing but a gas checked version of the 452374. Top punch is the #374. For load data I use data for 225 - 230 grain bullets. This bullet/mold gave me good service. I tried it with and without gas checks in a Colt Government model but saw no difference in function or accuracy so used it quite a bit with out gas checks. I did make up a center pin for my sizing die that fit the base of the bullet, keeping the lube from getting into the gas check groove.

I got away from using my 452484 as I got a NOE five cavity 230 grain bullet mold that suits my purposes better than the two cavity 452484 did.

Have Fun,

JCherry

BigShot, those are terrible molds... who would put a check on a 45??? You should send that mold to me for proper disposal....

JCherry, you're at much too high an altitude for this bullet design... send your -484 mold to me and I will use it at the correct altitude... :kidding:

Well it was the first mold I bought so even if it were terrible:dung_hits_fan: I'd just keep it on a shelf. I do wonder why a 45 would need a gas check:confused:.

If your no longer using this modified center pin would you let go of it for a fair price?

I just saw on flea-bay a 452484 mold that had been modified to a hallow point. Does anyone have experience with this? If so, dose it perform well?
