Could someone recomend a small scale that would be used for seperating cast boolits? I've tried a Ohaus YA series scale but found it very erratic with readings plus or minus 2 grains on a known 20 grain weight

Thanks in advance

Just to clarify, when you say a "small scale", are you referring to a "pocket sized" , bench, or inbetween ? Or just not an electronic shipping scale?

Something roughly the size of a cigar box or smaller. The Ohaus scale I've just returned when weighing a 260 grain boolit could be off plus or minus 4 grains
re-weighing the same slug

Look around here, they have everything.

I used to have my eye on one or two, but they are way down on the list now.

Good Luck

THANK YOU!
I just sent them a email with the requirements of what I'd like in a scale.

Some of those prices are off the charts.

If I got to shell out $150 price range for a decent one,
I just as well buy a Dillon from Grafs using my C&R discount
and get it for lowest cost possible.

Take a look at the reloading scales here http://www.rightonscales.com/web/ibalance.htm and
http://www.brianenos.com/store/be.scale.html I use the model 201, and it is very consistent when checking the scale with check weights(Lyman).

treecutter buy a "Made in the USA PACT Digital Precision Powder Scale", I have had one for 7+ years and it is very accurate and fast at weighing bullets, plus has the optional electronic powder measure available.

You guys are the greatest! I liked the scale made in the U.S. but a change had been made to a circut board with about a 30 day back order. Went with RightONSCALES, even found a 12 percent coupon. grand total=$97.

Many thanks to all of you:smile:

Super fast shipment from the folks at "right on scales" I would highly recomend the scales. if you weigh a dime ten times you get the same reading every time. I weighed a fired small primer on my 40 year old powder scale and then on the new 201 scale. both showed the same 3.4 grains.

Many thanks rocice and to all of you:smile:

I got one of those PACT scales for weighing boolits. It's great. Had it about 4 years, put batteries in it once. I'd buy it again. Mike

That one works for powder and bullets.

I have tried others that are ****. That one is pretty good for the money.

Assuming there is a need to weigh your bullets, any electronic scale of sufficient capacity should be more than adequate--even the +/- 0.2gn cheap units.
I would recommend getting one that can run on A/C, as battery-powered units I have looked at get wonky as the battery weakens.
I think my Lyman 1000XP is great for powder charges and I use it to establish the estimated "average" weight of each case of bullets or batch of cast bullets--don't bother separating by weight, just like to note what the "real" weight is in my log books.
