Been there, done that, know what your going thru, get well soon.

If you had bypass get ready to sleep in your recliner for a couple of weeks, it'll make it a lot easer to get up until your sternum heals.

Heal up fast Bruce. It's been more than 18 months and it still hurts to sneeze, but that's the only problem. Better than I've been in years. I have faith you will be too.

..............Some new info:

Bruce is continuing to improve, breathing easier, sitting up for longer and going on the required short perambulations around the corridors. His cardiologist said he is doing much better than they would have expected and is their "star pupil".
He is doing well enough that I feel more comfortable about heading back to Winnemucca today to make the house "heart-patient" suitable, everything out of the way, and get the flooring installed in the bedroom and bathroom before he arrives home. Kim will be keeping an eye on him and cooking up tasty but approved meals to try to get him eating, and I will be back ASAP in a few days to learn what I need to about his care. His cardiologist says that he will need "Cardiac rehab" -- hopefully they will be able to do some of that in the "Mucc".

Best wishes for a speedy and total recovery. Cardiac rehab is a necessity; have been there and done it. Usually a 12 week course, 3 times a week and it is fully staffed with physical therapists and nurses who supervise and monitor (BP and Heart-rate) on the various machines and exercises. A rounding cardiologist also is present. A program that is an extension of the rehab continues after the 12 weeks. Worthwhile to continue with that too. Again get well soon. LLS

Bruce, I am so glad to hear that you are doing so good "after the fact". I too enjoy your take on various issues. Sounds like you will get more keyboard time than usual in the next little while. So when you feel up to it I am sure you will ge able to keep us in line as usual. It is almost miraculous what can be done with our old tickers in this age. To think, we have the best medical care on the planet here in the good old USA. Some in Washington think they can fix it!. You are on my prayer list Bruce.

Brings back memories of 2001. Dad had his in October 1989, I got him up walking, Quail hunting when season came in . He felt it worked so well on the rehab part he got me out as soon as he could drag me from the recliner. I had mine November 6 2001.

2.5 410s are a lot more cracked sternum frindly than 3 inch. Just a tip there I will never forget that experience at two and a half weeks.

Prayers sent for you and the ones helping you. Watch out for the post sugury blues, they suck.

Get well soon, Bruce! I'll bet the plumbing work will make you feel better than you have in years as you recover from the operation itself.

Way to go, Bruce. The rehab is important - I had a CABGX2 5 years ago, and my cardiologist is bored with me - has me on an annual schedule - I see him this Friday. And keep that Heart Buddy pillow close, in hand!

Best wishes. I had cardiac "repair job", but fortunately, I had a stent put in, so managed
to avoid the huge chest issues from the surgical opening. My boss had it many years ago,
and described it as "like having a pickup drive over your chest", so I feel for you.

Take care and do what the docs tell you, sometimes I was real antsy to do more and kept
to their schedule of exercises and can now do whatever I want. Shoveled snow for 1.5
hours at 10,000 ft above sea level today getting unstuck from snow drifts, so I can tell
that I am doing OK. My bet is that you'll prefer .22 LR for a while, as far as recoil is
concerned! Soon enough you'll be back on the range.

Glad to hear you are winning, take care.
