Hi

Would this help in the boolit mix (ANY MIX),metal used for making miniature models containing
54% Lead / 11% Tin / 35% Bismuth.
Got some leftovers from my miniature model making days.

Thanx:p

Nope! Here's the problem: 35% Bismuth.

Save that metal. Take it to a scrap yard and tell them it has bismuth and tin in it and also lead. They may have an XRF gun to determine it exact composition. Might get a whole lot of money because bismuth is expensive. An XRF gun determines what a metal alloy is made of or how pure a metal is.

bismuth will add hardness just like antimony, unfortunately anything over [airc] 2% really starts to add brittleness.
add 1 lb per 100 lbs total weight, and it will add hardness without any problems.
bismuth melts at low temps also.
if you have a couple of lbs of this alloy you could try making an alloy with some pure or stick on ww's thats @ 1% tin [by adding in some tin] and @ 2% bismuth and cast at a pretty low temp.
