A local gun store has PMC 55gr FMJBT for 319.00/1000. I have never bought that much in bulk and was wondering if that is a good deal.

You rarely beat these guy's prices.

I would say that is a good deal.

Our store has that PMC @ $299/1000, and XM193 @ $159/500. I hope this information helps you, my intention is not to be an advertisement.

After the ammo shortage here, the hardware got some in and run a sale, I believe it was 340 a 1000. A friend of mine bought 16,000 rounds at one time. I mentioned that that should do him for a while, and he said when you have 8 kids, it doesn't last near as long as you would think. lol

At the gun show in SLC Ut. last week my friend paid 209.00 for a 1000 rds of Wolf. People were hauling them out by the hand dollies full.

The brick and morter I work in. I hesitated posting specifics for respect to the CB site sponsors. We're located in central NC...

That price seems to be about average. A lot of people don't care for PMC .223 brass for various reasons. I've not used that much of it, but what I have has worked well enough.

Places that I often use for price checking ammo -
http://www.jgsales.com/ammo-for-rifles-c-12_38.html?page=1&stID=0&sort=3a
http://www.ammoman.com/c/8/223-556

http://www.natchezss.com/ammo.cfm?contentId=ammoGroup&ammoGroup=1&searchBy=size&ammoSize=205&category=3

Natchez now has PMC .223 for $5.79/box with slight discounts off of that for larger quantities. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=PM223A&src=tpCtgAm

J&G has the steel case stuff much cheaper than that.

PMC has changed place of manufacture many times over the past several years. They went through bankruptcy a short while ago too. The last few boxes of PMC ammo that I saw came out of Korea. I've seen older batches come out of places from Nevada to Italy. All of it has shot well for me so far.

i have seen much pmc ammo that would not operate an AR.
it was fine in bolt action rifles however.

Bullets $74.99
Brass FREE
Primmers $35.00
Powder $80.35
load 1000 =$190.34
Ability to load what shoots best in my rifles
PRICELESS

PMC is good

I have lots of PMC brass everyone bought in bulk then left lying around littering the range. LOL

For loaded ammo do a Bing search and shop around. There are a ton of choices!

Personally like NSP64 I load my own, but if you are short on time and just want blasting ammo it can be had pretty cheap.

I'm not much interested in PMC ammo, but here is 900 rounds of Federal M193, on stripper clips, and FREE shipping.

For ten bucks less ...

I bet a dollar it is headstamped Lake City.

Cheaper Than Dirt lists some low prices, but after paying their shipping cost, they ain't that great.

XM193 is made at Lake City. I have talked to an engineer friend that works there
and he says it is normal ammo, not stuff that fails mil spec some way.

ammoengine.com can usually nail down the lowest prices pretty quick. Right now the cheapest brass cased stuff they show is Prvi Partizan M193 at Wideners.com for 309.00 / 1000 round case

I know a few people who have thousands of rounds stashed, and who maybe shoot a few hundred (if that) a year. To each his own I guess. There are some with survivalist tendancies. I guess with the current administration if I were in my 20's instead of my 70's, I might also be a survivalist. However, I get little enjoyment out of shooting any factory ammo other than rimfires. I enjoy shooting what I load, and mostly with blts. that I cast. I am also cheap, and the $300.00 or so for a thousand rounds of 223, would buy a lot of powder, primers etc. that would produce a lot more than a thousand rounds. Just my opinion!
