Once upon a time I tried cast boolits in a .240 Super just for grins and finally gave up.
Got the opportunity to work with a .243 Win, a cartridge that's new to me.
If anyone has some cast loads and experiences to convey I would love to hear about it.
Thanks.

Been shooting it for years w/ cast bullets. I use the RCBS 95 Grain SP-GC and 11.0 grains of Unique. Very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. Load the bullets to engage the lands when loading.

10-13.5 gr 2400. My sweet spot is at 12 grains. RCBS 95, 244496 or 497.

What Gianni said, Be BRUTALLY CRITICAL with boolit triage--if not perfectly filled out, re-melt 'em. I use 92/6/2 alloy and either RCBS-095-SP or Lyman #244496. 12.0 grains of 2400 has accounted for LOTS of ground squirrels and jackrabbits.

I shoot the Lyman 87gr with around 10.5 or 11gr of Unique, it was a nice shooting load. I also shoot the 100gr RCBS with 4227, but I also have a 9.125" twist for my 243. So far I like this old Cramer mold I have best, which looks more like a heavy duty version of the Redding mold.

If it was me and knowing what I know today, I think I would go after that Redding mold and start with some 4198. I think that's the powder if I remember right.

Another idea is trading for some boolits or getting some samples before you go shooting. That way you can get an idea of what you want before spending your money on a mold.

I started shooting cast in my 6mm Rem about six months ago and it is the most accurate caliber I shoot so far with well under MOA groups at 100 yds. My load is 16 gr of 4759 and the boolit is the 89 gr Lyman RNGC

Mine (Howa) loves the RCBS 95gr. boolit loaded over 10.5gr. AA#2. 1800 fps, minute of beer can at 200M.

I'd really like to know more about your rifle and load. I was just fiddling around with the search routine because I've been wanting a bolt gun somewhat smaller than my '06 that could deliver this level of performance. Which Lyman mold are you talking about?...245496, 245497, other??
