Any place to get a cheap 22 cal mold?

i just got a savage axis in 223 is there a cheaper mold i can get for it or a decent mold for around 50 or 60 bucks?

So is the mold that Mooman showed me the "bator" mold? in not used to casting for such a small caliber, can anyone enlighten me on the bator mold?

the Midsouth link says they are in stock, you should get it about a week after you order it, I'd guess.

I've had good luck with the bator, The reason for the caution ...is that Lee
has taken poetic license with the dimensions. Lee is not making them
to the original specs. Lee's mold makes a short fat boolit, with a short fat nose.
So you will need to seat them shorter.

They work great in my Ruger 77/22 in 22 hornet, the rotory magazine is
kinda short. I have had problems with other boolits being too long to
fit in that mag.

IMHO, the best 22 mold for the money is a NOE mold.
yeah, they are about $20 more than you want to spend,
but worth every penny...I have the 22-055 RCBS clone,
but I seen they are SOLD OUT right now. The other two links
are a little heavier, but should work in a 223...depending on twist rate.

You cant get cheaper than the Lee 2 cavity molds. will you get a good one? maybe. or you can hawk Ebay and bid your max bid and forget about it eventually you will hit. But again will you get a good one? Maybe. or as JonB advised go to one of the custom mold makers and pay a little more and cry once. the old saying you get what you pay for really is true.

The first RCBS 22-055 SP that I had was hard to use, did not fill out well. So, I got another. This one is a joy to use. With wheel weight alloy + 1% tin, it casts at .2248 diameter. Most bullets fall out; some require a light tap of the mallet. My experience has been that 1800 fps is the lower limit for accuracy.

The Lyman 225415 is another good one too. The NOE copy of the 225107 works great in my K-hornet and .222, I haven't played with it too much in my 223 though.
