Just got back from the grocery store. In the checkout line in front of me was a Mexican decent lady with a 3 year old kid. She bought a bunch of groceries and paid with a WIC card. On the way to my car I saw her getting into a late model Nissan Pickup with custom wheels. I know I'm jumping to conclusions but I'm driving a 10 year old car, 12 year old pickup and paying for my groceries. WTH!

I feel your pain, man. Standing in the checkout line watching people & their children talking and texting on Iphones, paying with a food stamp card and then walking out to better cars than I can afford, I just wonder how we got here.

Minorities and illegals (undocumented liberal voters) have privileges and perks those of us who work and pay taxes don't have. Try living close to the border, and you would be exposed to real eye openers on a daily basis.

Last week same thing happened to me lady paid with WIC and she had another cart with 3 cases of beer and a jug of wine and then asked for 2 carton of smokes then paid cash. I looked at her and made a face and she said I'm eating steaks on the state I was so mad if it was a man I would have decked him

Havent you seen the reciept found in a grocery store parking lot something about 10 pounds of live lobsters, 15 pounds prime rib, an extremely expensive bottle and it was all paid for with food stamps?

And then my buddy, a disabled veteran, cannot even get the govt. to pay his social security and disability.

VA shooter, if you ever do, I will pay your bond.

Yes, eventually the helping hand gets slapped enough. I just really hate that it has to come to that eventually because I KNOW that there are people out there doing their all, working 2 minimum wage jobs and taking care of kids that maybe are theirs or are not. I have seen em, I have helped em. But they make up maybe 5% of those on govt assistance. But what about the people that are getting the shaft NOW? And dont get me wrong, I am as guilty as anyone. I dont write my senator and congressman enough. I dont send e-mails enough. I could do more, but I am too wrapped up in MY family and kids. Sometimes I feel just as guilty as those sighning the papers allowing them to do it.

Don't for get that they also get the child earned income tax credit. Some thing like $6,500 free just because you have kids. No one should get this. I don't mind the welfare IF you need it. Everyone can fall on hard times.

Not *quite* right Tomme. The "Earned Income Tax Credit" is for people who have "earned" income. Not SS, unemployment, or govt handouts. Then there is the "Child Tax Credit" that you may or may not get according to your income. That reduces your tax bill dollar for dollar up to $1000 per child -- key is you have to have *some* tax you owe in order for it to do you any good.

THEN we have the "Additional Child Tax Credit" which is a REFUNDABLE credit -- you get money back for this and the Earned Income Tax Credit depending on income.

The issue I have with the whole system is THIS: I have a DOZEN clients in my tax business who are young, in love, live together and have two or more children. Each make somewhere between $18-$22K per year depending on the year. The higher wage earner claims Head of Household filing status and one or two children depending on number of children, and the lower income earner claims single filing status with the other child. Between the two they get back somewhere between $8-$12KKK ---- ALL of it FREE money that you and I pay for and nothing illegal about it. They're just working the system and will not get married until it is fixed.

Net effect if they do get married??? Their incomes get combined and they might get $2-3K back on those credits. They'd have to be crazy to get married to tell the truth.

All those earned income tax credits and additional child tax credits? You and I are the ones paying the bill on that one.............................

Hope I made that clear as mud for all of you. People like my wife and I who are long term married, have had enough responsibility to pay off our house early and keep it payed off, don't have any debt, and pay a BOATLOAD in tax every year may indeed be the suckers here............heck with it, I'd prefer to do things the way I view as right.

Sorry for the rant, I see these sums of money going to people every day this time of year and it burns my but with a 3 foot flame.

.............the absolute worst? When the first words out of their mouths is "OH GREAT! Now we can go to the Casino....

Tazman1602, you hit the nail on the head.

My wife and I only have one little exemption in our household. We both work have decent paying jobs and pay a bunch in taxes every year. I have no idea what a tax refund is since I haven't seen one in ages.

I work with people making near the same money we do and they brag about these 8, 10 and 12 K refunds they get every year. I always point out that it's not a refund if it's more than you paid in.....

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot
exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will
continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they
can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.
From that moment on, the majority always votes for the
candidates who promise the most benefits from the public
treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed
by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest
civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about
200 years."

That from a Scottish history professor, Alexander Tyler, circa 1787. And history bears him out.

And the founding fathers echoed that same sentiment at various times.

We now have half of the country paying taxes, and about half not. The half that does not essentially sells their votes to the party who promises them the most. Why do you think the Democrats rail against things like voter ID laws? Illegals receive benefits of US citizenship, in some states including the right to vote. And now they can vote for exempting themselves from contributing to the US, taxing those other than themselves, and sharing in the fruits of this great nation.

my ex wife had a friend who didnt work and had three kids ie; welfare momma - never paid a dime in taxes , every year she got a tax refund ( how is that possible when she never paid ??? ) several thousand dollars in fact ...nuff said the system is beyond skewed and not in the "real tax payer's" favor ...... to be fair my wife's friend didnt even own a car or a large screen tv etc etc but as the song stated " you get your money for nothing and your checks for free "

I saw this. Lady talking on her new I phone, telling her friend it cost her 400 $, she spent over 300$ and paid with lonstar. (wic card) Then stated she is disabled and needs to have it carried out. When I got outside she was parked in a disables spot and the poor kid was being insturcted how to load the bags into the new caddilac cts. It still had the paper tags.

Sadly this has been going on since the 60's. In the late 60's and early 70's, I worked in a grocery store in South Texas, I would see people come in and buy a basket full of groceries and pay with food stamps. Then they would have a basket full of beer that they paid for with cash. I would bag their groceries and take them to the car, they would have late model Caddies, Buick's or sports cars. It's still going on, only the methods of payments have changed. It used to be food stamps, now its WIC and plastic cards, and Earned Income Credits. In the beginning we had the food give away programs where people would go pick up the staples; milk, cheese, peanut butter, bread, canned veggies, and other foods. The courts decided this was demeaning, we were embarasing the poor, that they should be able to buy what they wanted with our tax dollars. The politicians will do anything to buy votes, and both parties are guilty.

I've seen this more than once, and when I see the food stamps being ABUSED, as in a cartload of JUNK food like cokes, candy and ice cream, or premium quality steaks and seafood, I have started raising hell with the parasite.

It's come close a few times to getting real ugly, and on two occasions, the police were called to the grocery store--by the parasites themselves.

But what is worse is when I see retailers that PROMOTE this garbage. When I walk in a Walgreens or CVS and I see the shelves LITTERED with signs saying "We accept SNAP cards" or "We take Lonestar" and those signs are by the cookies or the ice cream or the cokes, I call a manager over and raise nine kinds of hell with him or her. Then a letter to the corporate offices--which I'm told by the store managers is 100% ignored.

Another reason I shop mom and pop stores whenever possible. The big corporate entities are just as big of a bunch of economic prostitutes as the political officials who are pimping them.

But, the bottom line is that I speak up, loudly, and raise hell. Sadly, I'm often on my own which tells me more than I want to know about the future of my country and the spineless sheep occupying it.

Just don't get in the way of them getting home to watch their latest reality TV show or read up on the Kardashians. . .

Pick out the representative in your state that promotes conservation and hunting. You should, sometimes it isn't all that hard. Just takes 5 minutes to find them online.

One of the best lines I ever heard on this was Phil Graham, then Sen from Texas, IIRC,
he said, he "didn't want the safety net to become a hammock"

It definitely has become a hammock and these lazy, worthless folks all vote for more
of the same and the liberal congresscrittters and senatecritters are voting for it and
loving it. I think we are screwed and no way out until the system goes totally bankrupt.

Maggie Thatcher got it right when she said "The only problem with socialism is that
eventually you run out of other people's money." Greece is pretty much out and we
are getting close.

its going to be the same ole **** as long as there are politicians in Washington. People think that they are doing poor people a favor. And I do understand it. But people are usually too free with other peoples money. I work for a large aerospace contractor. My department decided one Christmas to collect money to buy food for a local food pantry. Unfortunately for me and my team I was elected to the trustee board. Or rather was kind of drafted any way we ended up with several thousand dollars to buy food with. While we were in our meeting about it a group of people started talking about how many cases of Name brand food they could buy and I asked why dont we go to Aldis a discount food retailer in the area and see what we can buy. I was bomb-blasted by several of these people telling me poor people like to eat good stuff too. I countered I thought this was about feeding the hungry. We can feed 20 families your way or we can feed 100 my way. I further asked why do you think that poor people deserve to eat better than my family can that I am working to provide for. after the fight was over I prevailed and not only did we feed 100 families we fed 200 because Aldi inc matched our funds and we had 2 18 wheelers of can goods delivered to 6 area food banks. Trust me friends its a problem that's systemic and until it starts coming out of the peoples pockets that are doing the donating its going to stay the same ... I have a lot more fun spending your money than my own.

As long as people who don't contribute to the treasury are allowed to vote for the representatives and senators that make the budget, we are screwed.

Need to change the rules so that if you don't pay taxes, you don't get a say in how they are spent.
