150 gr rcbs sized to 310.
haven't tried my 311041 in my 30-30's yet, the rcbs does so well.
as a matter of fact it works the best in all my 30 cal rifles except in my 308 [which it won't chamber in]

Find a bullet seller that will give you a choice of sizes (Beartooth bullets for example. Also try Carolina Bullets which advertises on this site) and get a box of bullets for each of .309, .310. and .311. Get the bullets between 150 and 180 grains, whichever weight you plan to use. Load and try all three sizes in your gun. Get a sizer in the size that works best. Melt down the loosing bullets for future casting. If you don't want to go to that much trouble then just get a sizer for .311. A slightly too large a sizer will work fine. A slightly too small a sizer is worthless. Sell your too small sizers on Ebay.

You need to slug the barrel on that 94 before you even think about getting a mold and start casting for it. My post 1964 Mod94 requires a bare minimum of a .311 boolit. It is .310 in the groves and .308 across the lands, so even a jacketed 308 30-30 bullet will just dang near fall down the barrel on it's own. Standard factory winchester 30-30 ammo loaded with the 307 dia bullet will drop through the barrel. Once you have a good idea what the groove and land dia is at the muzzle and the breach of the bore, then you will know where to start.

Best wishes,

Joe

.311 if the bullet drops that big (most do). .310 on the RCBS 30-150-FN because it drops at .310. Never found a .308 or .309 sized cast bullet that shot as well as .310, preferably .311 in any of numerous M94s over the years.

Last year I sent a cerosafe casting to Buckshot for measuring. He determined .312 or .311 would do. I've been shooting .312 ever since. Works great with an Accurate Mold's 170gr gc bullet.
