Well I have been reloading for a while and want to start casting boolits. I have Lee melting pot and some molds for sinkers. But its time to really throw some lead. Just not sure what book or other info I should read. What I would like to start with is 32 20.This is my 1st gun its a BSA Martini that I am very fond of. I am looking to kick it out around 1500 fps. Any suggestions on molds and who to stay away from? Any helpful guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Get one of the current lyman cast boolit books and check into NOE in the vendors section, there was just a group buy mould, 314008 that should work well in your 32-20. If you are going to go only up to 1500fps, a plain base mould should work.
Slug your bore to make sure.
Use a good lube, White labels' Caranuba Red would work very well as well as LBT technoligies, LBT soft.
I usually go for about .002" over groove dia.

Welcome to the fire!

Thanks for the info.
How fast could I load that old boy up to safely?

If you happen to have 2400,

7.2 grains of 2400 for 314008 is close. I shoot a TC Contender, 10" barrel handgun with riflescope. That is my most accurate load at 100 meters. Most lead bullets shoot way below factory jacketed for the best accuracy.

Good Luck,
Ron

+1 on slugging that bore, make sure it's not a .310 barrel rechambered. If it is a .310 tube it will probably be 5 grove @ between .316-.323. Then you will be up for finding a mould for a .310 cadet boolet. If it slugs .312 disregard all I said. Had a Martini years ago and learned all this the hard way.

Not sure how fast I would load a cast boolit, or any other kind. I look for decent speed and hitting the target. Not necessarily in that order. If speed is required, perhaps a gas check would help, I don't use them so others will have to comment. I load the 32 WCF for a couple of S&W revolvers. I like the cartridge. We have had a couple of group buys for molds suitable to the 32 WCF. Check in the vendors boolits section and maybe you can get some to try before you buy a mold.
