Hello all. I have been reading from the side lines for quite a while and have finally found a need to "talk". I have a marlin 1895 which was made in either 1896 or 99 depending on wether it is an 3 or 8 in the serial number. The rifle is in very good shape with the bore slugging at .406 and feeling tighter toward the muzzle and i would like to start loading for it. I have a old mold which is throwing a 322gr. .409 round nose boolit of a fairly soft lead. I would like to go with smokeless and i am looking for loads and advice. The only load information i have found so far are for accurate powders (came with the lee dies) and 25gr. of 3031 (which i have), but i am unsure if it is safe in this old of a rifle.
For now i would like to get this rifle shooting and possibly latter on i might try to hunt a little also.
Any help will be appeciated.
