Dave called me and wanted to shoot my 1919 6.5 Swede I customized long ago. I said OK, I have some loads.
I don't hunt with it anymore so I put my old Leopold target scope on it and changed powder to Varget.
I took a few shots to sight it at 100 and took a cap off a little water bottle, set it on edge with a stick to keep it on the rail in the wind. I set two 20 ga shells on the rail too.
Dave took the cap and a shell and I took the last shell.
I swear he was hugging and trying to kiss my rifle as we went up the hill! :bigsmyl2:
He called later wanting to change his 8mm Mauser to 6.5 and I told him that I did not think so. Make the 8mm shoot.

Amazing how well those Swedish rifles shoot, isn't it?

In my experience, it's pretty unusual to find one intact that doesn't shoot. The worst one I ever bought had a cracked stock, and a cleaning rod ruined muzzle. I cut four inches off of it and put it in a cheapo Ramline stock. With handloads in neck sized brass it will still shoot 1/4" @ 100 yards 15 years later.

I had a couple of Swedes. And I kick myself for ever getting rid of them. The upside is they went to my nephews. A great rifle and cartridge.

Great ctg. They make a nice sporter, but can't bring myself to sporterize mine with all matching numbers and a beautiful bore.

They shoot great in the original stock and my best group with open sights was .432" at 100. But my barrel was pitted bad. I bought a take off barrel that was better and changed it.
I had cherry I chainsawed from a tree in my woods so I made the stock from it.
I shot many deer with it, it is a wonderful caliber but I have gone to revolvers and bows 100% except a ML once in a while. Mine is a real safe queen!
