As many of you know, I'm an avid 'coon hunter. I've been looking for a way to video my shots and I figured out a way to do it.

I modified a 1" rimfire scope ring by drilling it to accept a 1/4 - 20 threaded rod. I mounted the ring to the barrel of the scope, just ahead of the forward mount. The camera is threaded onto the stud and a wing nut is snugged against the bottom of the camera to keep it centered and locked down.

With this arrangement, I can not only shoot stills, I can video the shot by illuminating it with the 185 lumen spot beam halogen light attached to the underside of the barrel. The barrel, scope, light and camera are all on axis.

After I completed the installation, I took it outside and tested it by doing a short 30 second video. It works perfectly. Below is a photo of the rifle, light and camera.

Uh-oh, this is getting weird. Next will be a bipod, then a muzzle break..., and then?

Maybe a can opener?

Mall ninja cricket. Be the first on your block to get one.

I think I need a longer barrel. I got no room for the 40MM grenade launcher tube.

You have plenty of room for a 203 tube. Just attach the light to the under side of the tube. Problem solved.

You know...if you switch to one of the fancy Isreali InfraRed Sights that they mounts on the M1 Carbines, You could take the flashlight off and easily mount that 203 GL :)

I used to sign in daily to report on my shooting and share the results of what other folk have been doing. Now I sign in to see what Jim has come up with. It's a beautiful thing Jim. That's the most expensive cheap rifle I ever saw. :-)

So Jim,

Have you matched the weight of the rifle with the weight of all the cr.. stuff attached to it yet?

I still remember taking a scope off with a buck knife one night under a tree full of coons. We would probably still be there if the rings had allen screws holding them on, (and its been thirty years).

To do that he'll have to mount another camera back to back to get the "excited Hunter" footage!

Jim, take a couple of deep breaths, no need getting too excited. Get a quad rail handguard for an AR and mount on the barrel. They also make risers for the picitinny rails so you can stack multiple addons, piggy back style.

Jim

Hey, you didn't specify that to begin with, so you get what you get and it is what it is.

You know, you taken some ribbing over this project but I think its pretty cool, sans bayonet of course.
My brother wanted a way to mount a video camera, almost that exact same size, to his airsoft weapon. I helped him with custom attachments that would stay put and live through combat situations (those kids play hard!) he made some pretty awesome videos with it.
I think you have a bunch of fun right there.
I bought a cricket in the black plastic configuration for shooting postumuses up close. I built a laser that screws to the scope rail but does not obstruct the iron sights. The only problem was that the laser button kept getting turned on and it ran the batteries down. Oh well, Its still one of the funnest .22s I have ever owned.

Wow, I really stumbled onto the FUN group. My first thought was that you can actually "sight in" the camera and take shots while looking at the camera's display. I do love the Cricket. I bought one for my youngest son when he graduated from the Red Ryder BB gun.

I think you got the makins' there, Jim. You got the video camera, now all it needs is a computer with image recognition software and a coupla servo gyros to steer the barrel, and you'll never miss another shot. The key components can probably be had from some surplus air-to-air missile. Heck, you could put the gun the ground, aimed in roughly the right direction, and it'd stand up and take the shot all by itself.
