I aquired a nice NEI mold without a sprue plate. I found one block was warped and holding the blocks together, I could rock them. I had removed the pins so they were not in the way.
I drilled the handle screw hole all the way through and tapped it. I screwed in an allen head capscrew from the top and put a thick piece of brass in the handle slot to run the screw against. I kept tightening the screw until the block was straight and did not rock anymore. Then I heated it good and hot and let it cool down. I now had a straight set of blocks that fit together perfectly. I made a new sprue plate from thick stainless steel. Quite a job because it is a two cavity. The mold makes perfect boolits now. It took me about a day to fix it, but I can't complain since the mold only cost me $8.
What else can an old retired geezer do?
