I want to give White Label lubes a try but don't know which one to get. I mostly shoot 38's, 44's, and 45's both ACP and LC with an occasional 45/70 thrown in the mix. I'm not trying to set any speed records with my boolits and for the last decades I've been using the old Lynam Ideal lube. The Ideal is a bit smokey escpecially indoors but has worked OK. Now I'm wanting to try something different but in another thead I was a bit dissapointed to hear that the BAC has a habit of coming out of the lube grooves because that was going to be my first choice. Carnuba Red, 50/50, 2500, BAC, what's the most popular for handguns and rifles under 2000fps? I've got heaters on both my sizers so hardness wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks

2shot - I've been using BAC for a while now. Haven't had any problems with the lube leaving the gruves. You do need to handle carefully though. I also have some C-Red, but haven't tried it yet. THEY tell me the C-Red needs heat to flow well. At my house, the BAC needs heat too, not much, but some. Take your pick. enjoy Mike

Am sold on white lable. I use red canuba for all rifle loads, and the 50-50 for handgun. Works well, no leading, when blts are proper sized. l Red needs heating. I use a thrift shop hair dryer.

How are thes lubes as far as smoke? In the Bullseye Leauge I shoot in every week I get asked what caliber smoke-a-matic I'm shooting this week. The smoke is from the old Lyman lube (black tar) I use although I have never havd any leading with it.

I like Carnuba Red and use a little heat. I have also mixed CR and 50/50 (which I think is BAC) but I prefer the CR due to less stickiness on boolits.

Is the 2500 a sticky lube?

I use BAC in all of the calibers you mention and have no complaints whatsoever- it is a great lube. I have never had it come out of the grooves... If I am not loading them right away, I size them and roll them around in a little Motor Mica to keep them from sticking together. You can't go wrong with the Carnuba Red either- I like it when it is hot and it doesn't smoke at all, where the BAC may smoke a little. Both need a little heat here, unless it is the middle of summer. Great product and great people to deal with.

I use BAC for my 32.20, 45 acp and 45 colt and it works great and stays in the lube groves.
It should work OK for your 45-70 also.

Ask them about Commercial Red. I just lube/size & drop the boolet in a plastic bin. The boolets don't stick together as bad w/commercial red. I've used it on 327 fed.mag, 45colt & 9mm with good results. BAC would be another good one to have, that way you could mix it to your liking.

Bac is good stuff and soft and easy- CR is also very good but much harder--oh and they are cheap and good two things that do not normally go together

I've been using 2500+, since I started casting a couple of years ago. I've used it in 9mm, .38 SPL, and .45 ACP so far without any issues. To me 2500+ doesn't seem as sticky/tacky as NRA 50/50.

Hi 2shot,
I use 2500+ for all Smokeless Boolit applications.
This includes .30 Cal. - .45 Pistol (Auto/ Long Colt) & Rifle (45/70)
It's not Tacky, and when using a Lyman or RCBS Sizer does not require heat until down around 50 degrees.
Very Good Lube for the money.
Also Lars & Leah are great!!

when using a Lyman or RCBS Sizer does not require heat until down around 50 degrees.

I too didn't need heat when using a Lyman 4500. I've recently upgraded to a Star with a Lyman universal heater, and I find that it goes a little smoother if I cycle the heater 5 min on, 5 min off.

Have used his 2500 and BAC. Currently BAC for several years now. Pistol calibers and .30cal rifle.

I used BAC for a while and had no problems with it migrating from the lube grooves.

White Label lubes are just the best as well as their service, you cannot beat the price also!

I use CR with a little heat, works like a charm, very little smoke, and leaves the barrel shiny and clean. CR also does not make your boolits sticky, especially in summer when it is very hot here in South Africa.
I also have tried BAC, works fine as well, do not need any heat to flow, but is somewhat sticky in large batches of boolits.
You cannot go wrong with either of these two fantastic lubes from White Label.

I converted to BAC about 5 years ago. A huge improvement over my old LAA methods and my own failed lube experiments.

I have used Carnauba Red for several years. It requires a bit of heat (just enough to allow it to flow) and I like how after it cools, it stays in place and is not sticky.

I shoot everything handgun, mild to wild, with the Carnauba Red with excellent accuracy, no leading, and no weeping in hot (100 degrees +) weather.

When you add in the MOST reasonable prices, it becomes a no brainer for me.

Thanks for all the replys guys! Looks like I'll have to try out a few different lubes. I originally was leaning towards the 2500 but from the responces it seems all the lubes work well so I'll give'm a whirl. The only one I didn't see in the replys was the 50/50. I usually do marathon casting and sizing sessions and was looking for a lube that doesn't get sticky when boolits are stacked in boxes waiting to get reloaded so maybe the 50/50 wouldn't work out for my needs anyway.

Thanks again

The Carnuba Red is awesome stuff.

Leaves the bore shiny, stays put and isn't sticky. Smells great too.

The 50/50 "White Label" lube will smoke a lot more in lower pressure cartridges, and less so in higher pressure cartridges such as the 9mm and .357. You will notice the smoke more indoors. With a properly sized bullet at an appropriate velocity, I have never had Leading with it, even at 2200 fps.

There are many reports here of the lubes from Lars smoking less when more Carnuba wax is added, making them harder, and redder. I have no experience with them, because I have a very large amount of 50/50 to burn up. I have bought a lot of the Carnuba Red.

Lars sells what is generic Lee Liquid Alox. I have used it in some calibers with excellent results, no Leading, and little smoke. My best results have been with the .40, for no reason I can identify.

Another lube I have a lot of and am looking forward to trying is Bullshop Speed Green.

Glenn has sample paks on E-bay sometimes, variety of White Label lubes. He will send you half a stick as a sample once in a while, if you ask.

I use Carnuba Red, Lyman 4500 and pin heater. It works in the 41 magnum Blackhawk, the 44 Special Flattop, 32 magnum Nef... you get the picture, all the handguns I own!

Glenn sent me a sample of BAC with the order, it's soft for what I do. The Carnuba Red stays put when I cast up a bunch and have them sitting in the coffee can ready to load. If you have heat, I'd go Carnuba Red and then, get a sample of whatever else you might want to try. I have a lot of Alox lube that I still use on rifle rounds sometimes, it's the original 2138. But CR is just easier to handle and smells nicer.

2shot; Although I am in the process of making my own lube/lubes, I have used BAC in the past for 38 Spec, 357 mag, 40 S&W, and 44 mag with excellent results and no bullet separation problems. It also exhibits very little smoke. Of all the White label lubes BAC is my favorite. I prefer lubes which don't require additional heat to the luber/sizer and BAC flows OK without it. Since you don't mind adding heat, I have heard nothing but good about the carnauba red. I'm sure you would be pleased with either lube. Lar45/Glenn offers low prices and great service as well.

I'm using Lars 2500 for 45 and 500 S&W. Just a little heat since I'm in a cold cellar and no problems with sticking in the groves and not sticking to each other. 45 normally fly's at 750 fps and the 500 from 1200-1500fps. I store my bullets in old plastic coffee cans 1000 heads at a time.

2shot, I purchased a sample pack of these lubes a couple of years ago. This was two sticks each of CR, BAC, 2500+ and 50/50. I really like the BAC lube; low smoke, no leading and shiny barrels. The liturature that came with the lubes stated that BAC was a mixture of CR and 50/50. I do not have a heater and BAC flows well at all temperatures for me. I have used it on 38, 357 44 pistols and 35/30-30 and 444 Marlin rifle. I have abandoned all the other home made lubes I have and settled on BAC.

AND, the price is right.

I just mixed up a few sample sticks of BAC/Caranuba Red in a 3/1 mix. Stiffens up the BAC to where the boolits don't stick together when I size them in my Star.

Got the ratio from another fella here on the board.

The BAC is nice lube but far too sticky for my tastes in my .45acp - I need to order some Carnauba Red sometime and try it.

I've used Carnauba Red in low velocity and high velocity pistol loads. Whether 32 ACP or 7.63 Mauser I've had no leading.

I've also used it in low velocity 45/70 loads (210 gr bullet and 6 gr of Bullseye). Groups were excellent and no leading.

You must heat Carnauba Red to make it flow properly. I've found about 100 °F works well.

BAC in 45 ACP works for me. I let them sit out over night and they're not sticky to me and there's no leading so, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I've been using the 50/50 for several years and it is a bit "sticky" but is a really good lube. I've had zip trouble with it. I have about 3 sticks left so may try something different next time. Don't want to clean the luber out until I've used it all up.......

I switched over to the C-Red lube a little over a year ago and so far I love the stuff, leaves my barrels nice and shiny from the little 380 to the 44 mags. I've got about a dozen sticks of the hollow left and need to melt them down into solids or just pour it straight into the sizer.

BAC is my only lube for 45 acp,in cold weather will need a little heat to get it started, after that its easy sailing,As I size them I am placing them in plastic cartridge boxes.two bullets per slot, the first one looking down, the one on top looking up,so 200 per box, this keeps them from sticking to each other until they dry out alittle.

I have been using Carnuba Red right from day one. It was sugested on this forum that CR needed a little bit of heat, so when I ordered my Star, I also ordered the base heater. I pour large quantities of boolits and store them in containers of 1,000. No problems sticking together and because most of my shooting is outdoors, the smoke problem isn't an issue. The majority of my loads are 45 LC & 38 special, both of which are low velocity. CR is the right lube for my application.

White Label, LARS, WL and Glenn

These are the same people but board members like to confuse everyone and talk in unknown tongues about this great lube.

I prefer CR for 45acp, BAC for 9mm. 2500 for rifle. When bullets set , the BAC is less sticky.

The black Lyman lube is the plague. Not good for me at all.

I used CR for a few years. Too sticky and comes out of the grooves. Like everything else about it though. In the summer, it makes a mess. Would be nice to have a non-sticky lube that stays put and doesn't turn to mush at 100 degrees. In the past I've shipped bullets to TX in the summer. Bullets arrived safely, but all the lube melted and pooled up in the bottom of the box.

Dale53

This has not been my experience. The last time I checked, the lube didn't melt until 165 degrees. I have used CR (Carnauba Red) for several years with complete satisfaction.

I recently placed my first order with Wite Label Lube Co. ( http://www.lsstuff.com/lube/ )
An email response to my questions took only minutes. After I placed my order, my shipment went out same day. BUT I rec'd the wrong lube. I emailed to ask if I messed up the online ordering or if someone just grabbed the wrong sticks of lube for my order. Leah replied back to my email in very short order that she would take care of it. No questions were asked, she just put the lube that I wanted in an envelope and sent it to me free of charge. THIS IS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL be ordering from White Label again the next time I need lube!

freakshow: I'm in Texas also and regular CR has been a little sticky for me in the heat of the summer. Started buying and using CR Commercial in my Star sizer and haven't looked back. It is a little harder and isn't sticky as it dries. I've loaded approx. 15,000 rounds of 45 acp 200 swc.

I've been using BAC in my 41 mag, also shot a bunch in a low velocity 15-1600ish load for my hornet.

I just switched my sizer over to 2500: I am sold on this lube.

No heat required in my 55ish degree basement(BAC did not need heat either)
boolits not sticking together
little to no smoke that I can tell
accuracy is great
nice lube star at the end of the barrel
