Checkmate makes two kinds of followers for the 7 round mags. One has the skirt and has a shorter rear leg and the other has a longer rear leg but no skirt. Both have the dimple. I have both kinds but was curious. Which is better for the 7 round magazine as for holding the cartridges better without them bobbling around and will both utilize the 11# Wolff spring?

The top one looks like a collapsing follower to permit 8 rds in the mag. This appears
to be a variation on the original Devel mag follower which was the original 8 rd mag for 1911s.

I'd take the bottom one any day, but I have not personally used the top version, so I'd just
stick to tried and true - the bottom is the original Browning design for the 1911.

The top one is the CheckMate follower with the skirt and dimple. It's listed as CM45-7-S-H-CMF. I like it due to the skirt but like the longer rear leg of the other one. The bottom one also comes with their 7 round mag with a flat follower a dimple (CM45-7-B-H ). Both are for the Hybrid Lip magazine.
