I have and inherited H&R 32 The American Double Action, BP according to the criteria of the late Bill Goforth. I have lots of 32 S&W Long which I reload for my 95 Nagant. The cylinder of the H&R will hold the long cartridges. I want to shoot this without endangering me or the pistol. Can I use the loads for 32 S&W in the longer case? (1.0 to 1.5 grains of Bullseye or 7 grains of FFg or FFFg, with filler in the longer case) The H&R specialist on TFF thought it sounded OK but recommended that I check with reloading guys. Help please?

I have the same question with a Forehand Arms 32. I have made myself a 0.2 cc dipper out of a slightly filed down 22 short case. If you want to measure the volume of a small home made dipper use an insulin or other shringe.

I've been trying to load for an old H&R Premier smokeless revolver and it is frustrating.
The data I got from Accurate stuck a boolit in the chamber. I loaded some with other data put haven't fired them yet.
Pulled apart a Winchester factory load and the boolit was way undersized and was not lubed.

I do have a few of the old blackpowder cartridges that I had pulled apart awhile ago that are balloon head. Wish I had weighed the blackpowder that was in them.

You might trim those Long cases down to the proper length so you don't get them mixed up with the cases for the Nagant. Would make it easier to get the proper load also I think.

Good Luck in your quest.

Gentelmen, if these guns chamber a S&W Long, then they will fire it. If you are worried, use starting loads. Once you fire a S&W long in a nagant, if the case doesn't split, it will take alot of pressure to resize back to original spec.. 32 20 cases work much better. I to have used a 22 short cases to make a dipper for 32 S&W (short). I have yet to load a 32 S&W (short) to have the same bang as factory. Most of the loading data appears so mild as to make a pop instead of a nice bang.
